The Last Movie You Watched?

Is that SWDB board safe? Also I kind of felt like not pouring bleach into my eyes tonight, thanks!

Yesterday, I watched the classic horror Cat People (1942), directed by Jacques Tourneur and produced by the legendary Val Lewton. It still holds up amazingly well, and Simone Simon is great. A number of scenes are quite capable, despite their age, in sending chills down the spine.

I have bought me the Lewton Box recently. Watched with a friend I Walked with a Zombie (J. Tourneur 1945). I always liked it, but didn’t remembered it so great. My friend was also overwhelmed. Very atmospheric, still creepy in some scenes, i nother scenes it looked surprisingly modern.
A masterpiece, probably the best Horror film i have ever seen. 10/10

I also watched Isle of the Dead (Mark Robson 1946). 8/10

I knew only 3 films of the nine (Cat People, Body Snatcher, Zombie), so I’m looking forward to the rest

I got the Val Lewton boxset for Christmas, so I am now going to work my way through them all in chronological order; Cat People is the only one of the nine films that I had seen before and I was amazed at how well it worked even though I knew how it turned out.

I prefer the sequel Curse of the Cat People even though it’s not really a horror film.

Perversion Story- You won’t find any gore in this Lucio Fulci film, but it’s an interesting pre giallo crime drama with a twist.
It’s not bad at all, and the acting is quite good. With Marisa Mell, Elsa Martinelli and Jean Sorel in a insurance scam kind of story with love and revenge thrown in. Good San Francisco scenery and a cool jazz sound track and M.Mell never looked better and the motorcycle stritease scene is eroctic and there’s enough nudity with her to satisfy the viewer. Not much suspence here and it kind of fizzles in the middle, but it’s worth a watch for the gorgeous Maria Mell. 6/10

Final Destination 5 - What a whole lot of fun

but all of them are decent especially cat people, i walked with a zombie, isle of the dead, the leopard man, the seventh victim,
bedlam. proberly the least are ghost ship and curse of the cat people but like bill said it’s not really a horror film.

" The Man from Hong Kong" not bad, never less than entertaining, quite a few good fight scenes.

I always wanted to see them all, but the 3 mentioned were the only ones I had the chance to see. they were repeatedly on TV, the others never

Dig the cheesy theme tune by Jigsaw too.

And what a theme music

Under a friend’s advice watched this British independent film. Not a bad one I must say, by the contrary, the story is original and well told, and agaisnt the opinion of many, I did liked the ending, the final twist may be predictable yes, but still efective in my view.
My only complain is that the film somehow is divided in two, one part thriller, other part a wanna be horror flick, also there’s some strange ā€œjumpsā€ from some scenes to others, but still for a first work (is it?) the director made a pretty good job. I can assure that this one will grab your attention till the end.

Did like it, a good film

Macon County Line - It was alright but not the Redneck sheriff in pursuit kind of film I was expecting it to be.

Snap !, just viewed this one aswell. Geoffrey Lewis was alright as the garage guy.

Alas, going through the boxet yesterday, I had the unpleasent surprise of finding both I Walked with a Zombie and The Seventh Victim were defective :’(. It wouldn’t be so bad if it had been just The Seventh Victim as I have seen it bfore (albeit a long, long time ago and thus my memory of it is hazy) but I had been looking forward to watching I Walked with a Zombie the most (strangley enough, tht other film on the same disc as I Walked with a Zombie plays fine, as does the documentary on The Seventh Victim disc).

You can try to copy only the Zombie film with DVD Shrink or Clone DVD. Sometimes it is possible to copy a defective disc.

But getting a new one through an exchange shouldn’t be a problem.
