The Last Movie You Watched?

The Blob (1988).

Always preferred the remake even as far back as when this was initially released at the cinema. The right pace to the film and energetic performance by Kevin Dillon. Did not recover it’s costs at time of release which I was surprised by, but comes no surprise this now has a cult following.

Into The Night, 1985… great chase-thriller that is also an ‘in’ movie… or movie that stars a lot of famous movie-directors as regular character-actors… Roger Vadim, Jim Henson, Paul Mazursky, David Cronenburg, etc… plus the actual director; John Landis, playing an Iranian secret-cop. The Iranians are after Michelle Pfiefer who is smuggling stolen emeralds into Los Angeles, where insomniac Jeff Goldblum accidentally rescues her. Nonstop action and hollywoodian humour thru-out. David Bowie is a convincing hit-man, and comedic as well. Excellent casting.

Never seen it, but bought it a few days ago for 1,99 € in a toy shop. On a regular base, they have a new load of cheap, super cheap DVDs on offer. Seems a good buy then.

these stores with cheap dvds are a dvd goldmine for me - i love them ;D

phantasm series - good old flicks, well, except for the fourth one - that was really bad
my friend had all four films in a special boxset in a shape of that flying ball, pretty awesome
phantasm 2 is also my fav of the tetralogy

I wrote a review for another site, here it is:

BONDED BY BLOOD

My brother came over this evening and we watched this. Good powerful film. It’s yet another version of the Rettendon murders story in Essex from 1995 but a welcome edition. If you liked The Rise Of The Footsoldier I’d say you’d like Bonded By Blood too.

Zombie 90.

German zombie film which is ultra low budget. Lashing of gore and thats about it really. The english dub has to be one of the most stupid I have heard. The main character who is a white guy sounds like he has been dubbed by a white guy pretending to be a black guy.

Yeh…it was tough going Yodlaf  .

When a Stranger calls (1979, Fred Walton)

A psychopath kills two young children, after having terrorized their baby sitter for some time.
Seven years later he escapes from the mental institution and starts harassing women again. He ends up with stalking the same baby sitter, who by this time is the mother of two small children. Charles Durning is the man on his trail.

Bizarre thriller, occasionally called ‘one of the best shashers ever’ even though none of the killings is shown.
Make no mistake: it may not be gory, but it’s tremendously suspenseful and scary as hell.

Stage actor Tony Beckley is magnificent as the psycho. Instead of trying to look like a monster, he makes the monster look vulnerable. We almost feel sorry for him. Almost. It would be Beckley’s last role. He died one year later of cancer.

May take a look at this one. Was sitting on the fence whether I should go for it or not.

There are two torrents on CG, note that the most recent one is a Mkv-file.
I can watch them (with VLC) on my PC, but my DVD players (I have three) don’t play them when I burn them to a disc

The smaller torrent is an avi and although it’s small, it’s okay

You’ll probably like it. -Has some surprising dynamics.

It’s a dark and rainy day and it’s October…perfect day for a horror classic:

“Son Of Dracula” (1943)
-Lon Chaney jr

Plot: IMDB
Count Alucard finds his way from Budapest to the swamps of the Deep South after meeting Katherine Caldwell, of the moneyed Caldwell clan that runs a plantation called Dark Oaks. She’s obsessed with occult matters. Who better to guide her through this supernatural world than Count Alucard, whose name no one bothers to spell backwards? No one, that is, except the wily Dr. Brewster, an old family friend. He’ll join Professor Lazlo, a specialist in the occult, in fighting this “Alucard” and the woman he’s influenced. Or has Katherine influenced him? Meanwhile, Katherine’s fiancé, Frank Stanley, will find his courage and his sanity sorely tested when he accidentally shoots Katherine to death, yet finds that she goes on living.

Phantom’s Review: Probably my favorite among the Universal Dracula sequels. Clever script. very atmospheric and stylish. Very much like a film noir.
Chaney Jr does a fine job as the title character and all the supporting players are quite good. One of the greats.

I also like Into the night (Michelle Pfeiffer got something to do it, I guess) it’s also the ultimate film in cameo appearences, underrated film in my view a good action comedy difficult to do these days

Would be surprised if you did not like this one.

Fantastic Voyage: I’d never watched it fully all the way through before. I was a bit distracted, but it’s such a simple film and so predictable that it didn’t really matter. Raquel Welch is not used very well, which is a shame. Nice visuals, though.
