The Last Movie You Watched?

Ahh ok, that scene I have seen. Yes, nude, but unspectacular and not erotic. I thought there was maybe a Clare Danes nude shot earlier.

I also disliked the idea of turning Arnie into a good guy, and by that turning a violent film concetp into family entertainment. In parts T2 was very well directed, but I did not understand why some critics praised it that much.

I grew up with T2, having seen it at my friends house a few times when I was 11 and never having seen the first one before that so I am a bit biased when it comes to this subject.

On a totally unrelated subject, I watched the great Stanley Kubrick film The Shining last night for the first time (which was of course adapted from the novel by Stephen King). I like how many of Kubrick’s films begin in purposefully bland atmospheres and slowly unravel to pure madness. 5 stars for sure.

I guess I’m the only one who thought T2 was total crap. Special effects dont make a movie for me. Part 1 is one of my all time favorites but I dont like any of the sequels at all… (Granted, I didnt watch the last one)

I do not care much for it either, and I share your opinion about special effects.

If I may add something…if you’re watching a movie like Terminator 3 for nude scenes or Terminator 2 for oscar winning drama, you’re looking in the wrong place my friends. Action sci-fi films happen to be a favourite genre of mine and special effects are a big part of that yes. Films like Terminator, T2, Aliens, Predator, Total Recall, Star Wars…they aren’t made to be intellectual drama pieces they are just fun to watch if you’re into action sci-fi. They might make a lot of money but they rarely win any awards for acting. I don’t watch them all the time but they are fun now and then. To me at least.

I just watched ”Villain” from 1971 by Michael Tuchner. Richard Burton plays a ruthless homosexual crime boss who lives with his mother. The film is not up there with the best crime films of its time and that’s primarily because the plot IMO lacks substance. Anyway it’s still a good film.
7/10.

Agreed, but even then there are good and there are not so good action sci-fi movies. I think Terminator, Aliens and Predator are good examples, while T2 and Totall Recall (not my favorite Verhoeven) are not so good, and, for instance, Alien v. Predator is an awful example. And of course you don’t watch action sci-fi for nudity, but if it happens, it doesn’t hurt.

I’ve watched Predator… T2 is no Predator. Dont mind me though, Up in Smoke was in my all time top 50 list

Deprisa, deprisa by Carlos Saura
-very good film about young criminals. Very basic story but the directing is great and the soundtrack is one of the best I’ve heard in any movie.

“Dread” not bad little film based on a Clive Barker short story.

Honour Among Thieves
Delon and Bronson in a stylish heist film. 7/10

Blastfighter
Dumb story about a cop versus rednecks, but it does the trick. 6/10

Don’t Torture a Duckling
Nice giallo. 7,5/10

Eaten Alive
Ok cannibal flick by Lenzi. 6/10

I just watched “12 angry men” with Henry Fonda who is a juror on a murder trial. To begin with he is the only one out of 12 who believes that the accused person might be innocent, but he manages to convince the other 11 members of the jurors that the person is innocent.
This film is a must see for any film lover.
10/10

The Philadelphia Experiment… pretty-much a wasted-effort. It could’ve been spectacular. The spinning cyclonic cloud roving aimlessly just didn’t work. And all the military scurrying-about seemed formulaic. Michael Pare’s performance was great, but his character desperately needed to have Navy-cut ‘short’ hair, as the script’s 1943-nuances using dialogue alone, didn’t succeed. A glaringly bad scene featured a helicopter chasing Pare and his mate at night, as they ran into an electrified fence. The entire fence erupted into an explosive syzygy of arcing electricity… with one of the bolts forking upward, completely obliterating the helicopter. Ridiculous. The very next scene has the 2 walking across a desert basin… so the fence meant they’d been on the outside, rather than inside. But they’re walking in the same direction they’d been running in. Sloppy. Executive-producer John Carpenter, must’ve just thrown a wad of money at film-makers, because his touch was virtually absent. Oh well, someday somebody may really do an intelligently slam-bang version of the famous ‘Experiment’.

Lady Snowblood 2: Love Songs of Vengeance (1974)

The beautiful Maiko Kaji is reprising her role as killing Yuki. Rescued from being hanged Yuki get’s a misson from the Japanse Secret Police. She should spy on an anarchist and stealing a dangerous document. The historical background is the time after the Russio – Japanese War. Japan has won the war but for the price of a high inflation and riots.

Not as good as the first one which is one of my favourite films. The sequel is still an entertaining hardboiled movie with some beautiful scenery.

Agreed, it’s a masterpiece.

Fingers.

Harvey Keitel plays a young punk who works for his father collecting debts. He has a fair amount of hang ups, which makes him unpredictable at times. Jim Brown pops up for a while and is a little different here. Alot better than more well known films of this type from the same era.

Oh, it was alright. My other half loves it.

Poor, in my opinion. The first, however, is absolutely superb.

Police Assassins (1985) - With Michelle Yeoh… hilarious with the english dub, some good action scenes as well.

Dumb story about a cop versus rednecks, but it does the trick. 6/10[/quote]I think this film is great fun, mindless yes, but great entertainment, probably my favourite Lamberto Bava film.

Its so different to his other films… I think its my 3rd favourite after Demons and Macabre.
