The Last Movie You Watched?

I would like to see Thriller, what did you think of it?

so far i am liking it… will have to wait for my final judgement as I turned it off about an hour into the film, as had to go to sleep… looks like things are about to kick off though

may not be suitable viewing for younger folks

More or less violent than Django Kill? Because I never had any problems with that one.

Well, not so much on the violence… but other aspects  I haven’t gotten to the real violence yet, in terms of blood and guts anyway, that appears to be coming up next… but its one of those exploitation films that crosses into the porn area perioidically… haven’t viewed many of those yet myself, and didn’t realize this was one until it was onscreen

You’ve seen the ā€˜eye scene’ at least?

Really graphic and it was done on a real corpse :o

The porn scenes are inserts btw, not performed by Christina Lindberg herself

Shocking movie, especially if it’s the first time you see it

Yes, I was just thinking of the eye scene… that was definitely a graphic scene and I was immediately wondering how they did it… thanks for the info, that is something else!

I was also wondering about the pron scenes, as it appeared it was a different actress since it always cut away from her

The director Vibenius seems to have been a crazy dude

But anyway, apparently he knew a doctor and through him they could shoot this scene at a hospital, on a girl that had committed suicide

Thriller is better without the porn scenes. For me they don’t fit with the film.

Yes, others have also said that and it’s probably true

i can certainly see that… and i was wondering about an edited version of the film without those scenes… but in some ways it kind of puts you more into the reality of her world, although at the same time the way the scenes are filmed kind of go against putting you into her world, because they are too porno-ish - so i’m not really sure what i think about it

i did like some of the odd synthesizer soundtrack during those scenes… providing the needed offset to the way the scenes are presented… i’m always a sucker for weird freakout synth noises though

The porn scenes don’t really fit with the rest of the film, but in a way they make the whole atmosphere even more sleazy

There already exist an edited DVD version from Synapse without these scenes, and I think this is the version that was shown in America

The completely uncut version was never shown anywhere in cinemas

This sums things up for me, and do like a little sleaze from time to time.

i think i also agree… i don’t feel like the scenes really fit in necessarily, but definitely increase the sleaze factor and i do like that…

i also kind of like that they don’t fit in, for reasons harder to explain (remember, I’m a Fidani fan ;D)

and if you want to get really arty farty about it, you could say the scenes kind of turn you into one of the bad guys too- since they’re filmed like a normal porn, its like you’re watching porn… even if it doesn’t turn you on, it still feels like you’re watching porn, so you have that association with it and then you’re also exploiting the victim in a way…

Inglorious Bastards (Quel maledetto treno blindato)

The Castelleri movie. Haven’t seen the Tarantino movie yet, but according to what I’ve read about it, Tarantino’s film is (also in a literal sense) a bastardization of the original.

This one’s a quite enjoyable mess. If you like Castellari you probably will like it, if you don’t, you won’t.

Kill them all and come back alone with a train, machine guns and bit of nudity
Explosion here, massacre there, Enzo imprint’s everywhere!

3/5

Have seen the Enzo Bastards too on the weekend.

Total war, total bore.

Well, not exactly, but that was my impression after the 1st hour (fell asleep then on Saturday) which was rather bad. The last third is quite different and changes to a typical war film ā€œmen with a missionā€ plot. This part is entertaining and much better directed. I also had Kill them all in mind while watching it.

Tarantino’s Basterds is a completely different film in every respect.

Boring? If ever there was a film without a dull moment…

I like some of the dumb comedy in this one, like the way the only English words a French villager knows are obscenities, and that crazy scene with the bathing Nazi babes.

And what’s woith Peter Hooten’s camp interpretation of an ex-gangster?

Like I said: If you like Castellari you’ll like it, if you don’t you won’t

Actually I was thinking about Stanton when I wrote that: I know he doesn’t like Enzo, so I reckoned he would hate this movie.

I thought it was good fun, but I agree with Stanton that the first half of the movie isn’t great, not really dull, but not exciting either. I checked twice how far we were into the movie: never a good sign. The second half is lot better. I didn’t like the Nazi babies. The girls were okay, but the scene is too weird to my liking.

I’m rather fond of Castellari myself and have been really curious about seeing Bastards lately… going to have to order a copy. I also like weirdness…

this line makes me nervous about buying a copy, I really don’t like war movies for the most part…

and I liked Tarantino’s Basterds quite a bit… thought the climax in the theatre was pretty brutal. I was under the impression it was a remake, but I guess he just borrowed the name and that’s about it… I’m sure there’s some other references in there, but not having seen the original I can’t say

Castellari’s film can be enjoyed (or not, your choice) as a straight-up action movie (that is, as a pure Castellari movie), not just as a war movie.

It’s on a similar level to Parolini’s Five for Hell.

This is what I’ve always heard about the film, that it is one of the best action flicks
