I also was lucky enough to see The great silence a year ago in the cinema. It was great, the scenery works really well in the cinema even if the print is sometimes too dark and to much light in the snow images. It was great fun, hope to see some more SW´s in Cinema
And hopefully in Sweden :).
That’s probably the most glowing review of the movie I have yet read on the forum!
Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 - The Squeakwel. :
Yep, kids choice!

For a moment then, I was begining to doubt your sanity! ;D
Or his sobriety! ;D ![]()
Heh heh…yeah not my choice, gotta do the family thing though!
I’m thinking of going to see 44 inch chest
I’m going to be seeing an old W. C. Feilds silent in the cinema this Sunday, So’s Your Old Man. It should be great!
I saw a W. C. Fields silent comedy, So’s Your Old Man (1926) yesterday in the cinema. It was pretty good, but it isn’t as funny as his talkies because you don’t have that great voice. I still enjoyed it. 7/10.
No doubt some of you will be pleased/horrified that Avatar is now the world’s most successful movie, having a world-wide grosse of $1,842,981,691, beating Cameron’s previous movie Titanic which made only a measly $1,835,300,000 world-wide, according to IMDb.

I still haven’t seen “Titanic” and I have no plans about watching “Avatar” either.
I still keep meaning to watch the ship sink in Titanic…
Are any records kept for a film’s success rated by actual bums on seats. That is tickets sold rather than gross receipts. It seems pointless to measure something in dollars when their value changes over time. This is not a dig at Avatar in particular. I would just be more interested to know how modern day films stack up in terms of genuine box office draw.
And also not forgetting that they charge you more to use the glasses
Watched Avatar yesterday. Great film, very good effects, nice acting and surprisingly deep for a mainstream Action film. Also has a great ending that shouldn’t be spoiled. Nice 3D effects too but there aint a lot of it as you may think. Watched it because of the 3D, but there’s lot’s of more in this one. If you have no plans on watching this, watch it anyway. It shouldn’t be watched on TV. Recommended.
Just think of how many average budget Spaghetti westerns say in the 60’s you could have made with this pot of cash.
It proably hasn’t beaten Gone Wit the Wind yet, if you adjusted inflation. And apparently, more than 1 billion people have seen The Sound of Music.
I am neither pleased, nor am I horrified by this news. I am simply depressed and saddened.
Because, all this means is we will be seeing more and more of this computer generated Sci-Fi shit being cranked out over the next ten years and we will be seeing less and less of what I consider real films.
Mark my words, folks, this is a sad time for cinema as we know it. Make that “as we knew it”.
