The Last Film You Saw in the Cinema?

Well, if you rewatch Titanic, you will see that the boat looks like its strayed in from a computer game sometimes.
Titanic is somehow also an underrated film. I liked it in cinema. It’s more entertaining and better directed than all the Star Wars films.

There are some dialogues in it for which Cameron should be ashamed, but I don’t think it’s a bad script.
Titanic is just like Gone with the Wind or Dr. Zhivago or Out of Africa. Not really good, but far from being bad. And I prefer Titanic to all the Peter Jackson blockbusters which are badly directed imo.
I agree AND disagree! I don’t think it’s underrated, just not what some people expected. I went to see it because I thought I would see a film about…well…the Titanic! Instead I got to see Kate and Leo play hide the salami for 2+ hours; not my idea of a good film. It would be equivalent to watching GONE WITH THE WIND because you wanted to see a film about the American civil war, or ZHIVAGO to see Russia. It’s understood that they’re love stories; all else is background. As for Jackson’s films, I loved them. BUT I love the books and have read all of them (including THE HOBBIT) too many times to count. Granted there are some BIG discrepancies between books and films, but he was brave to even attempt to flesh those out. Tolkien was no dummy, and his books are very complex in some ways. A daunting task for anyone!

By the by, I don’t like CASABLANCA. Bogart looks as if he’s made of wood in that film.

Did something go wrong while posting, Devil Bunny?

I’m sure she wanted to underline what I was saying

Yup! Fixed!

 Back at 'cha!

I’ve never actually seen all of Titanic (I’m not sure I want to), but I have watched verious scenes from it over the years.

See it, by all means. But keep the remote handy!

WOW! Sorry for all the edits! I’ve got these crazy-ass hamsters in their running balls whizzing around my feet while I’m trying to relax and read all this!

Very nice. I can’t think of anything better than seeing that classic on the silver screen.

I was able to see TGS also on the big screen. But that was nearly 30 years ago.

One of the few SWs I managed to watch in cinema.

I hope we’ll get more choices of Martin Koolhoven in the cinema,
I missed ā€œDuck you suckerā€ in the Hague sometimes ago,
I think Leone will be even greater to watch in the cinema.

It was nice seeing real old people coming to this film (saw about five 70 year old man)

The only Leone western i haven’t seen on the big screen.

I missed The good the bad and the ugly on big screen this summer 'cause of a Alex-Cox-like-neglecting-Leone-thing.
And I think compared to Leone The great silence is more like a piece of music, (the rhythm) I can watch/listen over and over.

But now I think the Leone’s are more suitable for the big screen. I’ll put them on my beamer soon any ways.
I understand John Welles comment here 'cause The great silence is a film which will not be shown a lot in a cinema.
I think (if I remember correct) this show was projected from betamax as the the theatre couldn’t get their hands on celluloid-version.

I’ll bring my grandfather next time, he must be around 130 by now, the old fox

You were there?
(I wondered about that)

I just looked on IMDb and Avatar won Best Picture and Best Director at the Goldan Globes (doese anyone actually watch it?) and Inglorious Basterds won Best Supporting Actor.

Avatar - wow what a great movie. I am not the biggest advocate of CGI but I absolutely loved it. Cameron’s best movie since Aliens (I hate Titanic and it’s goopie drippie nonsense plot - 3 hours to tell us that the ship sinks gee thanks). It is definitely one of the movies to be seen on the big screen and in 3D as well. I hope to watch it again.
