Perhaps I should just jump in as no one else seems to be hazarding a guess!
‘Illustrious Corpses’ … original title, Cadaveri eccellenti
A film which is very atmospheric, but somehow didn’t live up to expectations.

Yeah, you got it straight away @aldo - maybe it was Lino Ventura’s distinctive coat
Forty years ago BBC2 screened a season of Francesco Rosi’s films including this one. That would never happen now, on any channel.
Your turn once again.
Who knew we were living through the golden age of great cinema on Telly with BBC2 and Channel 4 …
… now some lightweight 60s fluff … a chick flick if you will.
This one’s from a director of mainly lukewarm comedies, but he is distinguished by being the guy at the ‘helm’ of one of the earliest Hollywood mega-hit movies of the 1970s … seems like a gun for hire rather than a man with a personal vision … my humble opinion of course
I recognised James Garner right away, but was leaving it for someone else.
So is it ‘The Wheeler Dealers’?
That’s correct … also starring Lee Remick and directed by James Hiller whose biggest hit was ‘Love Story’
Over to you, Montero.
Thank you, @aldo - and one of the all-time box office hits - ‘Love Story’ that is.
This was one of Kubrick’s favourites, and also rather apt for this specific day…
‘Henry V’ ? … definitely one of the best in the ‘V’ series
Correct, @aldo - and of course the 25th October is Saint Crispin’s Day. Sadly the old myth that the V-sign itself (as a two fingered insult) originated from Agincourt has no credence.
Your serve
This stars a well known and loved British actor who had an incredible run of great films (with a few exceptions) from the mid 60s until the mid 1970s, when quality control really went out the window.
‘… and not a lot of people know that’
‘The Hand’ directed by Oliver Stone and starring Sir Michael Caine?
All correct … and here is the moment of truth, which would have been amongst the next selection of visual clues.
Montero, the floor is all yours
Thank you, @aldo
A much acclaimed film from South America, albeit one that came with a special warning when it premiered on UK TV…
This was one of the ‘red triangle’ films and perhaps one of the few worth watching. The young star of the film was tragically gunned down by Brazilian police later in the decade.
“Pixote”
Correct, @aldo - definitely not one for those looking for escapist fare. But an important film nonetheless.
Back to you.
I haven’t seen it … but not in big hurry to either. Thank you, Montero.
Now, from a very big SW star a non western vehicle
‘They Called Him Bulldozer’ (1978)?
Well done, Toscano … Over to you.
