No worries, amigo … I’ll do the honours later, if no one else beats me to it - Enjoy your BD haul and forget about the world and it’s petty aggravations
That advice is as much for myself, as you … because today on the street, I had an unexpected incident were for the first time in ‘forever’ I lost my temper with a stranger who was maligning an elderly lady I know, who works long hours for free at a charity shop … well in brief, this guy was trying to insinuate that my friend was a thief and the whole set up was a con job and that I was just one of the ‘mugs’ that was being taken advantage of …
Well this was such complete slander that I lost it with the guy and gave him hell … I was a bit rattled by the incident and shocked by just what rotten cunts some people can be … You live and learn.
I won’t apologise for this little rant, as it needed to be said, and no-one looks at this page anyway !!
Take care and have a good evening.
You too, my friend.
Cheers, Aldo.
I’m back to being my usual easy-going ‘Tosc’ now, so no worries.
Let’s get on with the thread.
Just going to have a wild guess, as I really have no idea … could it be, ‘McVicar’ (1980) ?
This is far more episodic ‘state of the nation’ drama than prison thriller. Although one of Roger Daltrey’s contemporaries does appear throughout the film.
A well-known acerbic post-punk musician (no longer with us) once said if you want to know what Britain was like in the early 70s then watch this satirical epic…
‘O Lucky Man’ (1973) … I don’t think I’ve ever watched it through to the end, likely due to Alan Price and his crap songs … something about him gives me the creeps.
The trailer, which I just looked at plays like a sequel to, ‘A Clockwork Orange’, more so than ‘If’ … but I should do my duty and watch it all one of these days.
One man’s garbage I simply love Alan Price’s score to this movie but if you abhor it I can see why you never finished it. My favourite movie by the way and one that is in desperate need of a blu-ray or even better a UHD release.
Me too! Absolutely brilliant
That’s about it … but with Price, the lyrics sound like his idea of life lessons, which is hard to take seriously even for a second, knowing that he ripped off his bandmates, the Animals, over ‘House of the Rising Sun’ taking all the royalties … who is he to give advice to anyone … the smug faced cunt.
Correct, @aldo
I don’t mind Alan Price’s songs and there’s invariably bad blood in bands over royalties. This one has definitely aged better than ‘A Clockwork Orange’.
Back to you.
Ok, this one is British with an international cast … it’s name is Very similar to, and not to be confused with another movie of the same genre and year! .
The gal in the first picture, looking very glamorous, was part of an all star mega western … and her co-star was most famous for a certain chariot race about 10 years before this film was released.
That’s Stephen Boyd in the screens so this must be ‘Assignment K’?
That’s the one … as opposed to ‘Assignment to Kill’, which I think this one also went under that title … confusing!
Back to you, Montero
Thank you, @aldo - I’ve been meaning to rewatch ‘Ben-Hur’ for some time now.
I may have posted this one before - but I recently rewatched it, so here goes…
This one has a major character actor from ‘For a few dollars more’, I believe ? … not sure if you’ve done this one before, but as I recognize it … I’ll leave it for another player
