Diamond, I would say that this 40’s film is a combination of both war and horror…with some intrigue thrown in.
Here’s another pic.

This film stars a true Horror Icon…

Vincent Price maybe?
If so I would guess it could be “Rogues’ Regiment”.
Not that one, Diamond…but a good guess. It’s not Vincent Price, either.
More clues…these should prove invaluable help… ![]()

Oh, I’ve found it with the clues. Boris Karloff surely had a very menacing appearance!
Isle of the Dead.
Evil Under the Sun ?
That’s it! Good job. ![]()
Thank you, Diamond … this was on UK TV yesterday afternoon, I think ? … so, not too much of a strain on the brain ![]()
Here is a 1970s western with a cameo appearance from the film’s director
The director in question was involved with very high profile film projects in the 1960s, 70s and 80s … he is still alive, but retired from filmmaking.
His movies are notable for comments from background characters, not always seen, which give the scenes a sense of semi-documentary.
After hardcore detective work I think it could be “Butch and Sundance: The Early Days”.
Well done … Richard Lester making an uncredited appearance in the first picture - He made 2 films with The Beatles, my favorite version of The Three Musketeers (and Four) , Superman II, and many other well known films.
Back to you, Diamond ![]()
Thanks! I know he made Superman but did not know how he looked like.
New one, a very sweet fantasy or maybe even a fairytale from 1940s.
To be honest, I didn’t recognize this movie, but, if you google what’s written on the poster, it gives the answer … Cheating or ‘Detective Work’ ? You decide LOL
‘It Happened Tomorrow’
Correct! Definitely a detective work. ![]()
Only you kinda spoiled my next clue: “The main protagonist is a famous dick.” ![]()
My initial thought was ‘Howard the Duck’…

But I’ll plump for ‘The Hell with Heroes’ (1968), starring Rod and Claudia…
Bravo! … not a well known film, so well done for getting this.
BTW: The film poster has an illustration that looks nothing like Rod Taylor … did the art department receive pictures of, Cliff Robertson !? ![]()
Just a wild guess … ‘Beau Geste’ (1939) ?
