The Guess a Movie Screenshot Thread Version 2.0

Not sure what a “kitchen sink” drama is, but is it Village of the Darned?

Sorry, Aldo and RockyRaccoon, it’s neither of those two films that you suggested.

If it helps, the definition of kitchen sink drama is as follows:

Kitchen Sink drama
NOUN
1. a play or film in a post-war British style that was characterised by a realistic depiction of drab or sordid subjects, and used working-class domestic settings.

Having spotted, Frank Finlay … I reckon this must be ‘Walk in the Shadow’, aka ‘Life for Ruth’ (1962)

I have not seen this one - would you recommend it?

Correct, Aldo. Well done, amigo.

Regarding the film itself? It’s not an easy watch, and the subject matter of a young child clinging on to life is hard-going, but rather ground-breaking for its time. However, if you like a genuinely engaging slice of 60’s Britain, told and acted exceptionally well by superlative actors such as Patrick McGoohan, Michael Craig, Janet Munro, and Frank Finlay, then you can’t really go wrong.

Over to you, Aldo.

With films after 1975 or so I mostly draw a blank. This seems to be from the 21st century?

Hired Peon, it is indeed from the 21st century,
It was also produced by a legendary British studio…

I’m pretty sure I know this one but can’t post screenshots so won’t take part.
But am I right in thinking it is a modern British folk horror?

Congratulations, Aldo. It is ‘Wake Wood’ (2009): brought to us by the legendary ‘Hammer’ studio.

Also, well done to Phil, for having this film ‘in mind’

Scheherazade?

Intelligent guess, but incorrect! it stars two actresses from Italian cinema, notorious for taking their clothes off.

Oh, this sounds like “Le calde notti di Don Giovanni”.
