I know iāve said this in another thread but it is my all time favourite movie.
Clint, Eli & LVC are just brilliant.
Great musical score by Morricone.
My favourite scene has to be the one where Tuco is running through Sad Hill Cemetery , the music āEcstasy of Goldā is my fav piece of music from this classic SW.
I think that the scene was almost a great scene, but itās too rough on the eyes to watch, because the motion shots of the headstones are too blurry. It would have been much better if a different camera method had been used, so that the images were more in focus.
Thatās my reading too. And it fits with the mounting frenzy of the scene. It is a bit hard on the eyes, I admit, but in conjunction with the Ecstasy of Gold score and Tucoās ungainly, almost incongruously girly running style it is one of my all time favourite scenes.

As I have stated in another thread of this forum, I have seen FAFDM more than 300 times (no exaggeration). So, no I have not seen GBU as many times as FAFDMāand I doubt that I ever will. That said, I believe I have seen GBU somewhere in the neighborhood of 60 times.
Oh my god!
You are a Spaghetti viewing STUD.
Iāve watched Cemetery Without Crosses about six times in the past year and I was feeling all proud of myself. I didnāt know I was pitiful (except when SD kindly told me I was).
I watched GBU last night for only about the 10th time over many years. My way of enjoying it has evolved over the years. But it a great action movie that is also a great art film. On a more visceral level I still love Fistful (even more than For a Few). But for sheer manly poetry, GBU is unmatched.
I didnāt mind the newly added chicken scene but I donāt think it is really necessary.
Ditto the night scene with Angel Eyeās gang but I was happy to see close-ups of old, familiar friends Aldo, Benito & Lorenzo.

No, not reallyā¦
The thing is with the Leone Westerns, back in the late 70ās and early 80ās, local TV stations out of Oklahoma City would show the āDollarsā movies (pretty much un-cut, except for language edits in GBU) about once a month, sometimes twice.
One channel, Channel 34, would run themā¦then, within a few weeks, Channel 25 or 43 we would run them, too. I never missed the chance to see any of them.
Then, I got my very first VCRā¦and the only tapes I had for several years were:
CASABLANCA, THE MALTESE FALCON, FISTFUL OF DOLLARS, FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE, GBU, THE BIG SLEEP, and THE MERCENARY and NAVAJO JOE (taped off TV). Given that this was back in the days before the internetāand that I lived in a very, very small town that didnāt have cable TV (and didnāt have cable TV until just a few years ago!)āI spent most of my free time watching these movies over and over again.
FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE struck a heavy chord with me and so, naturally, I watched it more than the others.
Everyone seems amazedā¦if not downright dubiousā¦about my having seen FAFDM roughly 300 times! But, keep in mind I am getting close to 46 years oldā¦and I watched this movie, at least three times a week, for a period of a year and a half (that put me halfway to the 300 right there!).

Itās difficult to imagine it now, but you are right Chris, back in the very early VCR days we were lucky to have more than a couple of tapes. They were bloody expensive too. I remember paying more for a tape back in 1983 than I sometimes pay for a DVD today. Consequently, they got watched a lot.
My brother first got a machine in 1980, long before I did, and whenever I was over at his place we would invariably watch one of the 3 tapes he had. As a result these movies got watched untold times. Maybe not as many as 300 but certainly a hell of a lot.
What were the 3 movies? Strangely, they were Catch 22, Midnight Cowboy and The African Queen.
I finally got around to showing this one to my GF and she loved it (she said the acting in it was excellent). Howās that for an endorsement? Most people have heard about this movie but I think too many have missed out on one of the best movies ever. While not my favorite Leone western this is absolutely one of the best.
Has anyone watched the extras on the 2nd disc (for the R1 release)? I got a new respect for Eli after watching them.
Not sure if anyoneās mentioned this before but a dude calling himself āLeonenutā has done some āfan editsā of GBU, OUTITW, FAFDM and Duck you sucker! He has added in footage to create the longest cuts available! Check out GBU at http://fanedit.org/334/#more-334 for more info, it sounds interesting.
hm sounds weird. i understand the part with the subtitles, although i dont find the new dubbing in any way distracting. what about this torture footage, why hasnāt that been in the MGM restoration then if its available?
