:newspaper: NEW STUFF IN AND AROUND THE SWDB IN :spiral_calendar: AUGUST 2022:

:film_strip: New around the SWDb:
Plenty of improvements are being made in and around the SWDb, we are constantly fixing mistakes, adding titles, information, removing redundancies, fixing missing home video titles and much more.

  • We added spaghetti western Laserdiscs, please add info we are missing.
  • WHERE WE NEED YOUR HELP:
** We are still trying to get in touch with the person who used to run this website https://web.archive.org/web/20220330035944/http://spaghettiwestern.altervista.org/ if anyone has an idea, please send us a message.
** We are also trying to locate our friend from Finland who went by the name of Shobary (and had a popular SW website with that title).
** We can use more information on a lot of home video releases in the SWDb from France, Czechia, Poland, Brazil, Japan and many other countries. Please, if you see gaps in the SWDb, please reach out with corrections.
** We’d love to establish more than one person ambassador per country or region, to have a reliable network of friends having an eye on developments in that region (home video releases, screenings, etc.) but also help us add and maintain information in the SWDb related to that region (film titles, posters, reviews, etc.)
  • Let us know if you want to help with our new master calendar Calendar - The Spaghetti Western Database and company directory Company directory - The Spaghetti Western Database. We still need help to fill those with information, please get in touch!

And as always: join the SWDb, help out, it will make it better

:dvd: New and upcoming discs:
There are already some super interesting titles lined up for September and much later. But let’s look back first. The new releases in August were

Highlight came mostly in the form of an interesting double feature of Mexican westerns, the rest were mostly re-issues, plus a release of Villa Rides in Germany.
And in September we can look forward to

These include an overdue release on HD of Ace High (but what a shame it will only be Paramount’s shorter cut), a Blu of The Dirty Outlaws and a newly remastered release of Death Rides a Horse in Germany, which has however not been officially announced at the time of writing this.
Obviously, some of the big news included the announcement (finally) of a UK home video release of The Big Gundown. Click here to learn everything about that edition, and if you’re an Amazon UK shopper, please do use the SWDB’s link to buy or pre-order it.
:calendar: Visit the SWDb home video release calendar which we really do update sometimes several times a day, it is one of the most reliable things on the SWDb right now (and most popular).

:church: Boot Hill Cemetery.
Our head of obits, @Tom_B had to update the boot hill cemetery with 4 new obituaries over the course of the last four weeks. Rest in peace. :arrow_right: Check out “Cemetery with crosses”

:balance_scale: New Reviews:
Please get in touch if you can or want to review movies, BluRays, soundtracks or books, in any language. We could use more reviews in Italian, Spanish, French and other languages, too!

So yeah, I kept busy… and most of all:

And as a special exclusive treat I interviewed dutch director Martin Koolhoven (Brimstone):

Speaking of interviews, here is one in Czech with our friend Jan who published a spaghetti western book in Czechia.

And while we are on the topic of non-English content, the SWDb has signed up for the Amazon Poland partner program, so if you live there and want to shop, please do use this link.

:headphones: Music:
We can use some extra help improving the quality and quantity of soundtrack info on the database, please get in touch!

:desert: Locations
We continue posting and sharing location visits and comparison on our Facebook page and thank everyone around the net who takes these pictures and videos.
@Phil_H and I visited Berlin’s Bud Spencer museum by the way. This is recommended for those visiting the city.
Pedrom Almodovar is currently in Almeria shooting a short film western, find some pictures on his son’s Twitter account.
Speaking of Almeria, the Western Festival has moved dates. Click here to read more.

Also, Zippel’s Sergio Leone documentary is being show at the Biennale right now, expect reviews soon (we hope)

:moneybag: :dollar: Those of you who feel inclined to donate a dollar or euro or two, head here. Also, whenever you shop at Amazon, click on one of the SWDb’s Amazon links first, it doesn’t matter which one. Special thanks for those who donated last month!

:arrow_double_up: Many thanks to all and everyone who contributed this month, in the SWDb proper, here in the forums, everyone who has emailed us, shared our posts on social media or donated a few bucks our way. See you next month with a roundup of updates. We wish you the happiest new year and hope you check in regularly, discuss, spread the word and contribute (click here to read about the many ways how to do that). We have also improved the donation option via PayPal, it should provide a much more convenient experience.
