SW Bargain Thread

Oh yeah, for sure, don’t get me wrong, my Sartana Saga set by Video Asia is one of my favs of my collection.

And with the not bad prices of these box sets…we may gain some more spaghetti fans.

Not understood. All my Mill Creek 12/13-disc sets are all doublesided.

Also I might add I have nothing against double-sided discs. I’ll rather have them cram 4 movies in on 2 sides than on one DVD5

I think he’s referring to the Mill Creek 20 Movie Pack pictured (5 one sided discs).
Most of the films on these types of sets are best viewed on a computer screen, because the films are so compressed their shortcomings are more evident on a wide screen tv.
I’m not complaining though

Yes, thanks Provvidenza, that is indeed the set I was referring to.

They call this a Spaghetti Western collection but would I be right in thinking that some of these films not SWs?

Apache Blood is an American Western, Four Rode Out a Euro, the White Fang movies may be considered by some not Westerns, and Manhunt too possibly because it is set in modern day times. A mixed bag as is usual for these types of sets, but personally I’m interested in getting this (if cheap enough) as there are some films I haven’t seen at all.

Thanks Provvidenza. Yep a mixed bag and I’m with you when it comes to being interested in getting it as I too haven’t seen some of these. Quite a few in fact. Price looked ok to me for the amount of films on offer.

You are welcome Tigrero, and it will be interesting to see the quality of the movies on this set
The whole Spaghetti/not Spaghetti thing is subjective. I consider Spanish Westerns (White Comanche) as Spaghettis (goes back to that famous Burt Kennedy / John Ford interview), but Four Rode Out (imo) would be better described as an American Western shot in Spain. Then again Cemetery Without Crosses (a Spaghetti if ever I saw one) was directed by a Frenchman!

HK Flix have a few spaghettis on sale at the moment which might be of interest to some of you. A couple of Dorado releases and some of the XXX Thai ones. Here’s the links to some I found.

Here’s the titles list they give for it on their website

Beyond the Law
Four Dollars of Revenge
God’s Gun
Grand Duel
Great Adventure, The
His Name Was King…
It Can Be Done Amigo
Jesse and Lester
Johnny Yuma
Last Gun, The
Now They Call Him Sacramento
Seven Guns for Timothy

A mix of previously released stuff from them and some different titles too it would seem.
Quality will be a mixed bag I expect.[/quote]

Anyone have this set ?
Curious re the quality of Seven Guns For Timothy, running time and audio options.

These sets are a mixed bag indeed, and the quality varies, but I’ll admit that, if it weren’t for them, I might not even be on this lovely forum chatting with you gringos!

Agreed. Often good value even though quality does vary like you say.

Honestly, I’d rather be able to watch these films, quality be damned, to tide me over until I can score proper (or at least better) copies, y’know?
Like how I found my copy of Massacre Time over the weekend! I already had it on a cheap box, but I wasn’t about to pass up an opportunity to own the real thing!
