Suicidal Actors

I wonder why it was so hard to find out his D.O.B.?

I will do whatever I can to find the information: I do not think Claudio was born in Rome, as you know his brother Gian Maria was born in Milan, grew up in Turin and only in 1954 he moved to the capital.

In February '65 Camaso was involved in another legal case (in truth not the first because of his records of youth as MSI/Italian Social Movement supporter), when the theatrical representation in Rome of Rolf Hochhuth’s controversial 1963 play The Deputy - performed by a group of young actors under the direction of Gian Maria VolontĆ© - was prohibited and practically at the same time a bomb was placed in front of the Pontifical Swiss Guard’s residence in Vatican City.

The Italian police pointed the finger at Claudio VolontƩ but he was acquitted thanks to the testimony of his girlfriend, French actress Dominique Boschero (A Train for Durango, Between God, the Devil and a Winchester).

Well, a daily newspaper article written in February 1965 says that he is 26 years old, so in all probability my guess (Reply #94) was right and his birth year is really 1939 instead of 1940.

Thanks Senor Corbett. Yodlaf you’d be surprised at how many actors of the genre I can find no birthdates for. Jeff Cameron for example. Most of the major stars I have been able to find birth and death dates for but many of the supporting actors, especially the Spanish actors and actresses, such as Francisco ā€˜Paco’ Sanz, I can find nothing on. Most have long lists of acting roles but I can find little or nothing on them which is very frustrating that they have been given little to no recognition.

I posted on another forum that I was thinking of doing a book for those forgotten actors, like Jeff Cameron, but I don’t know where to get any more information other than the films he’s in or his death. I always wondered what happened to him.

Tom, it doesn’t surprise me at all the amount you can’t find the D.O.B. for as there are a lot of obscure actors, but you’d think with someone like him it would have been easier to find out, especially as he’s Gian Maria’s brother.

…then again look at Charles Bronson!

Very depressing, yet informative, thread.

I’ve learned a lot by reading it. And I still mourn the passing of Luigi Pistilli. He’s one of my all-time favorite actors.

Wasn’t there also a lot too laugh?

(despite the thread’s not-so funny content)

Sadly also French actress MichĆØle Girardon (I’ll Sell My Skin Dearly, Die Pyramide des Sonnengottes) committed suicide by overdose of sleeping pills in March 1975 at age 36.

Sleeping pills is the way I would do it I think.

What is the source of the birth date for Camaso (Rome, 12 January 1934) now on Wikipedia, IMDb and SWDB?

I’m asking because curiously both Rome and January '34 (only nine months after Gian Maria) seem in sharp contrast with the above.

Now on Wikipedia we can find a much more convincing Turin, 3 February 1939
