Most of those definitions seem to prove my point exactly. But it’s useless to make you guys see my opinion. It’s not like were discussing fact, but my opinion.

I’m glad it is established that your opinion does not correspond with fact
I was trying maybe a bit too hard to defend my position.

You really don’t get it!
Let me put it like this. Do you think there is any similarity between, say, The Bourne Identity and GBU? I’m not saying that we just use our eyes to see.
Do you ever seen cowboy hats, poncho’s, horses, saloons, frontiers, deserts, gunfights all together in one genre other than the western? These are visual aspects of the western.[/quote]
OK, d’accord. Westerns contain an own repertiore of visual features. But this is true for many genres.
I’d rate this as Fulci’s second best western right after “Four of the Apocalypse” for some reason i never really warmed up to “Massacre Time”.
Of course my expectations were pretty low after hearing negative reviews for years. Needless to say i was pleasantly suprised in the end. Finally a movie where Gemma doesn’t play the smiling lucky go happy character but a somewhat more sinister character. The action scenes were also pretty well staged and thank god for squibs which made the battles a whole lot more bloody and realistic IMO. Geoffrey Lewis is of course the show stealer but sadly he’s quite underused in the movie.
The only thing which bothered me is that Fulci never quite could make up his mind here. Sometimes it feel’s like a gritty revenge piece and at other times it almost resembles a children matinee whenever that little shit on his pony appears. Also the ending with the brat on the pony made me almost gag. But apart from these two problems i enjoyed the movie a hell of alot more than i expected. Oh yeah, i’m probably in the minority here but after watching this i immediatley ordered the soundtrack. Somehow the sappy soundtrack just grew on me. But i’ve been known to like akward soundtracks like “Mannaja”, “Keoma” and “Four of the Apocalypse” ;D
LOL post of the day
At least the little shit wasn’t a bad actor …
Granted i’ve seen way worse child actors, this kid can easily compete with the rest of the cast. But it’s something about child actors, especially in Fulci movies that just rubs me the wrong way. Probably largely due the horrendous dubbing job these kids receive in Italian movies. Just thinking of Bob in “House of the Cemetery” give me goosebumps… and not in a good way! Another kid i despise with a passion is the little Mexican kid in “Cjamango”.
I still haven’t seen this film and I’m not anxious to do so. Probably will when I’ve seen all other spaghetti westerns.
By the way, the kids in Kid Terror weren’t that bad in my opinion.
Wasn’t the Cjamango kid the one who became a terrorist?
That was the one in Shango.
I just had a look and Kessler writes that the kid (Giusva Fioravanti) in Cjamango was the terrorist.
I stand corrected. I thought I remembered it from a Shango discussion, but I can’t seem to dig it up. Something about the kid’s character doing the same thing in the film as he would do later in real life.
Hmm… being annoying?
It’s the same kid anyway. He’s in El puro too.
Now we’ve got it!
Hehe, unfortunately that’s not (yet) considered terrorist activity.
What a strange world…
Yep, same kid. I think he had dynamite tied to him in Cjamango. But for some reason they never blew him up. Missed opportunity if you ask me.
I don’t mind the Cjamango kid, but the Silver Saddle kid had an annoying english dub.
