The love for physical media goes parallel with the love for movies (or music or whatever) for some, myself included. As Søren said, WE has been around since the dawn of the format and has become collectible - simple as that. Regarding the price of A Fistful of Trailers - There’s people that would pay $300 for old VHS copies of movies that exists in 4K restorations.

So it’s really about the packaging, the container or box … though the tape has to be in perfect condition even though it won’t be played ?
I understand the desire to collect a series of items in the best condition possible … but don’t you think dealers are deliberately buying up limited pressing Wild East DVD releases to force up the prices … that to me is really unethical.

Anybody here know an alternate ending in which the ranch is set on fire and Ringo/Nebraska and Kay leave together?

Can’t see how that would work, as Nebraska keeps desperate Kay at a distance when he learns what’s she’s all about.
If this ending actually exists, we’re talking about a completely different editing.

Just finished watching the Wild East. Found this SW pretty average. I thought Piero Lulli was the best part of the film, but his stunt double is the bar fight was fooling nobody!
I found the locations a little limited and didn’t really look like “the west” to me. The storyline was ok, and I liked the “dead body” ending.
2/5 for me.

On the Bava direct or not front I’ll add that the Italian and Spanish production companies were the same as on Bava’s Planet of the Vampires, which was filmed before not after Ringo del Nebraska (Planet of the Vampires was seen by the Italian censors in September 1965 and Nebraska in March 1966). Tim Lucas’s book is clear that this was filmed after Planet of the Vampires. So, Bava got pulled into this one because the producers had just worked with him and knew they could rely on him.
I must say I find it difficult to believe that the Spanish producer was fired as director by the Italian producer, especially as his wife/girlfriend was the lead actress and the only source of this is the Italian producer stating so over twenty years later. Bava’s son doesn’t say the director was fired. Tim Lucas seems to think that production in Spain was halted by the Italian producer and resumed at Elios but surely that was pretty common in Spanish/Italian co-productions for the location footage to be lensed in Spain and the Italian studio used to finish the film. That was what happened on Fistful of Dollars.
Further to earlier post above this is the Italian censor precis of the film’s ending:
‘Carter si e recato al ranch per uccidere Marty e portarai via Kay. Si svolgo una violenta sparatoria. Marty e gli uomini di Carter vengano uccidi. Mentre Carter insidiava Kay arriva Nebraska che lo uccide. il ranch maledetto esusa di tante tregedie viene incendiato da Kay che scene va leandare lontano. Nebraska la raggiunge ed a evidente che i due giovani si rifaranno lontano una nvova esistensa’
English translation:
‘Carter went to the ranch to kill Marty and take Kay away. A violent shootout takes place. Marty and Carter’s men are killed. While Carter is threatening Kay, Nebraska arrives and kills him. The cursed ranch, the scene of so many tragedies, is set on fire by Kay, who then rides away. Nebraska catches up with her, and it is evident that the two young people will start a new life together far away’.
One assumes the Italian censor’s precis was taken from a plot summary given to them by the production company, possibly the shooting script summary. Obviously the film doesn’t end like this, since the building is not burnt down and Nebraska rides off without Kay (rather than him riding off after her). The censor’s plot summary also doesn’t mention the plot twist at the end when Carter reveals Kay’s complicity in the robbery and implies that Marty is killed by Carter and doesn’t expire from his earlier wounds.
My assumption here is that the script has been re-written during production to change the ending and to add the plot twist about the hidden robbery proceeds in the boot (which makes little sense when you think about it - why would Marty keep this money for 3 years and live in a house next to the bloke he stole it from!!). Possibly, they couldn’t burn down the set or possibly they thought they needed a surprise ending and the original script wasn’t strong enough. The site of the corpse rising from his death bed underneath the sheet comes across as being a bit Bava-esque but perhaps that is taking things too far.
Incidentally, Ken Clark mouths ‘Nebraska’ when asked about his name, which matches the English dub in which there is no Ringo (no Ringo in the Italian censor’s notes either). Is he ‘Ringo’ in the Italian dub?
