I got to watch this again recently as I transferred my olā Inter-Ocean vid to dvdr. I sorta half watched it as it was on even thoā Iād seen it twice before on the Cāest la Vie version (well 1 and a half, I bailed out early on the second showing :P), but even thoā it aināt particularly good, I sorta enjoyed it this time round and there are some great spaghetti touches - the manipulating woman and the clockwork dolls for instance). I even like the final shootout and ending. itās just that the āvalleyā bits are so boring and unspectacular - (which I suppose is why it is referred to in my book as Sartana in the Sandpit of Doom - thatās sarcasm btw, korano ;))
The biggest problem with this film is that I only have to mention it and the King for a Day song is rattlinā round my head for ages (mind you, thatās a fine lookinā lady singing it in the film ;D)ā¦
Do you know what extra footage was on the inter-ocean tape thatās not on the cest la vie dvd.
I sold my tape when the dvd came out only to find out after it was shorter but i hadnāt watched it for so long i didnāt know what was missing.
She looks like she should belong in a porn movieā¦
Oh shit ⦠so it was a double mistake, as he had spoiled Face to Face partly.
And it wasnāt even late in the night when I wrote this messy comment. Think, than write ā¦
I watched the first 15 minutes of this last nightand it looked intersting. First of all, the song that plays inthe background when Berger is riding through the plains in the beginning ofthe film is really strange. Not bad but strange. I found itweird how they built up Bergerās character. Especially when he is trapped in the city streets by horseback gunmen. He shoots the ground and it suddenly explodes. Kinda like Get Mean. It is unexplained. Also, the Cest La Vie DVD has VERY good quality. Just look at shobaryās site. The screenshots for this films page are unmodified. Crystal clear.
Extra fisticuffs for sure - but i donāt know the rest. i heard somewhere that there was more of the clockwork doll stuff - but I was working while it was on and only lookinā up as and when i could.
Iāve said, somewhere before, I once played the CLV dvd side by side with the vid, but I bailed out 'cos it was hard work and Iād only got as far as the fisticuffs.
Iāve sent the vid copies to Bros. Ennioo and Romaine ⦠maybe theyāre made of stronger stuff.
The Inter-Ocean vid is also very good quality - comparable.
I really liked this movie, bit daft in places but I still found it entertaining. It was good to see William Berger in a bigger role than normal. Who is the actress playing Clementine, the daughter of the preacher/doll maker? She was gorgeous!
This os actually one of the feww SWs (or the only one?) I havenāt been able to finish, because it was too lame. Maybe it wasnāt my day and I should give it another try, or it really is the lamest of the lameā¦
The main bulk which is cut from the U.K DVD when compared to the U.K pre-cert VHS tape, are various scenes with Wayde Prestonās brother in (Slim). Adds a bit more flesh to the story and enhances the motivations of Wayde Prestonās character.
What is the total runtime of the uncut copy? Does it make this film better? I actually thought it was pretty good but not great. Call me crazy but I love those sand pits. So cheap.
Running time of the VHS in Pal is around 1hr .27mins. 45 secs or 1hr. 28 mins. 05 secs if you let the music play with no picture on the screen at the end of the film. Added to my enjoyment of the film more, and contains an important flash back scene in my view. I guess it depends on how much you like the filmā¦
If anybody wants a copy of my āprojectā on this film PM me. Iāve merged the cut scenes from the uncut VHS to the widescreen DVD cut version.
Hol-e shit. I finally had the bollocks to rewatch this one. I was really demanding.
This time I realized, that in my first try there would have been only like 15 minutes left for me to watch. But I didnāt make itā¦
Now I was only able to handle the matter with my ff-button.
Okay, Berger is always a safe bet. In this one he also has got a couple if nice moments. But thatās it. Nothing else to give this one a credit for.
My god the end of it is so unbelievably bad. The army arrives and leaves the gold to Berger, because they only want a piece of paper. And they waited for this āimportantā message for how long? A month? Two? Canāt be so important in my opinionā¦
Finally this is the most gravel pit-ish SW Iāve ever seen. OK, itās called Sartana in the valley of death, but Bergerās walk through the pit means death for the viewer.
This film was pretty good for the first 15 minutes then it quickly degeneratedā¦like the Rev said it does have some enjoyable spaghetti elements though.
I laughed out loud at Dillingerās gravel-pit referenceā¦this is so true. Iāve seen bigger dirt piles just outside of my town than this movie had. This movie should have been called āSartana Is Slightly Inconveniencedā.
Not horrible but I really didnāt mind watching this one tonight. Perhaps it was the Wild Turkey making me sentimental. Even William Berger can be in a turkey right?
A Name that cried Revenge with Berger and Steffen sucked big time. You know a movie is bad when even Berger and Steffen together canāt save it.
IMO Berger is the King of Cool in SWs. Too bad to see him in bullshit like that.
Okay, just watched this one. Not a whole lot to recommend here. I mean, I liked it better than a few people on this thread but not as much as others. Bergerās pretty good and itās great to see him as the āgood guyā. Knowing nothing about this flick before I started watching it, I figured he was the bad guy until the real baddies start dogging him through that āvalleyā that reeks vaguely of deathā¦
Iām going to talk a little bit about the ending so spoiler spaceā¦
Pretty unbelievable ending, as has already been stated. Also, if youāve grown up around scorpions, youāll know that the bigger the scorpion, the less poisonous they are. And that scorpion was pretty bigā¦
Berger doesnāt suck in this one, but itās his worst performance, at least from what Iāve seen so far. Terrible movie.
Just finished watching this one. It had pretty good picture quality on the new Sartana the complete saga dvd. The film is not very good in my opinion. It is not terrible, but it is by no means good. Some people argue that the film focuses on character development rather than action. This movie fails horribly at character development and so does most of the other aspects of the film. Even the soundtrack was not very good for this one.
