Sorry about that. Maybe I can resend it?

Of LeSpecialiste’s SW Top 100 around 68 also are on my own Top 86. That is a rather high conformity.

One big difference I think is that I don’t like “zapata’s” nor comedies.

Wonder why it didn’t before

LeSpecialiste’s links were directing you to his page via the Letterboxd app so, if you don’t have the app, it’s not going to work. My link took you to the site. :+1:

runner’s list

One director missing, unless I eyeskipped him, is Colizzi.

Meaning to offend no-one, but that works for me. I’m not on Colizzi’s wavelength. Which is weird, because I have met very SWs I don’t like for something. Any reason though?

I am not so interested in comedy SWs, with one exception : My, Name Is Nobody (due to its direction, cinematography and in particular the depth regarding the plot with the interaction between an observing leading character Hill and the underlying story in which another leading character Fonda could be interpreted to represent serious westerns including such SWs).

Some lightheartness I accept and think could add value such as ironic or satiric jokes, for example as in A Fistful Of Dollars - " my mule don’t like people laughing" ( but not just slapstick).
In this respect several of the lesser known “gems” in the SW world have less such elements than Leone in the Dollar trilogy, and it probably suits them well.

But Colizzi films are no comedy, God Forgives particularly.

Yes, definitely not. Even the 3rd one looks quite dark and sinister, despite some more lighthearted stuff.

I often think Colizzi’s Spags are neglected by many due to their leads becoming later the kings of SW humour. Or the other way round, they would be more popular now if both leads had made only dramatic films. Maybe …

Ah, yes I have watched first one God Forgives… I Don’t! since it was stated as not a comedy and I only rated it 5/10, maybe partly due to that I don’t like the fat one as a leading character.

But the other SWs by Colizzi are stated as comedies on IMDb, and I was lazy enough to ignore them.

In general the “buddy” type SW neither appeal much to me, so that is also a minus (even if I do like some with such a component, and have For A Few Dollars More as number one on my SW Top list, OK no real “buddy” film just 2 extremely entertaining individuals with an interest to cooperate)

I should give them another try - and I should say that Frank Wolff’s Bill san Antonio lights up the screen when he’s around!

You can’t trust IMDb. Ace High and Boot Hill are definitely not comedies. If you’re gonna call them comedies you might as well call The Mercenary, Companeros and GBU comedies aswell.

Yes you might do so, but there are “different levels of hell” by my defintion, so the perceived balance between seriosity and comedy/jokes should be crucial when defining comedy or no comedy. GBU thus should be disqualified for being a comedy if the defintion is good enough and appropriate for me. (But I find the GBU character Tuco slightly annoying(maybe similar to some of Milians characters) and some scenes a little dragging).

By the way, the other two mentioned, or at least the first, have I watched and rejected mainly for the zapata element (anno 1900+ ?). The Morricone music in the first one is of course something to listen to anyway.

So for me, referring to my “buddy” argument and “fat leading guy” argument I think there would be waste of time to watch the remaing Colizzi SWs, comedies or no comedies

Many times lately I have added new filming locations for SWs to the IMDb web site, so in that respect it can get more trustworthy ! Although the ESPERANZA location in Navajo Joe still waits to be revealed

You and I certainly have two completely different viewpoints when it comes to watching SWs. I just don’t think I could dismiss a movie with Eli Wallach in the cast simply because Bud Spencer has drank way too many of his namesake’s beverages and he is an associate of Terence Hill’s. To each their own though.

Jepp, pure taste differs often also between SW aficionados, and obviously it can be due to rather trivial things (that probably can reflect the personalities of the aficionados to some extent) !

You mean you don’t like Bud Spencer or you don’t like fat people?

I dont like fat people as a leading character, as I stated above. That rules out Bud Spencer, as far as I know
