Online shop review topic

I think I’ve done this in the past somewhere, so everyone can post his or her experiences with certain online (or offline) shopping places.
I’ll start with a few as a suggestion on how these reviews can look like. As a rule, I think we can do it in a first-come first-served manner, so after I reviewed Amazon, you can only add your comment but not post another Amazon review

AMAZON

[ul][li]URL (click and shop to support this site): Amazon.de | Amazon.com | Amazon.co.uk | Amazon.fr | Amazon.ca[/li]
[li]Pros: Huge selections, unrivalled shopping experience, excellent shipping/logistics, competitive price, increasingly more imports and rarities[/li]
[li]Cons: can’t pay with PayPal, there are too many different Amazons, it is addictive, overseas shipping still very expensive[/li]
[li]Verdict: Eventually, after you’ve had the experience once of getting your stuff within 24 hours of ordering, even with standard shipping, you’ll love this place. Amazon shopping is fun, comfortable, relatively cheap and easy. They have a huge cataloge (especially books), but also increasingly more hard to get DVDs, .com even stocks Wild East discs now, .de has N.E.W. discs now. There are only few downsides to ordering at Amazon, I certainly wished they would combine all their different sites into one big site with just different language choices.[/li][/ul]

YESASIA

[ul][li]URL (click to shop and support this site): Yesasia.comAmazon.de: Günstige Preise für Elektronik & Foto, Filme, Musik, Bücher, Games, Spielzeug & mehr
[li]Pros: Large selection of asian titles, stocks most of the newer japanese spaghetti titles, accepts paypal, ships free over 25 bucks, easy shopping experience, good shipping speed [/li]
[li]Cons: japanese discs are expensive, but that’s not their fault, not so huge selection on western discs[/li]
[li]Verdict: I honestly don’t have much experience with this place, but after one order, I’m a new fan. The price was good, the shipping free over 25 euros, the shopping experience up to Amazon standards, and they accept PayPal which is a huge plus I think. I think this place is one of the coolest these days[/li][/ul]
ITALOPAPST/MOVIEPAPST

[ul][li]Cons: his website is - from a technical standpoint - horrible, so is the shopping experience. it takes long from order to shipping, and the shipping itself can span several weeks for no apparent reason, customer service is not very good [/li][/ul]
I have ordered from Italopapst and from my experience I would not recommend it. In January I ordered three spaghetti titles and as of this date they have failed to arrive. This may obviously be due to “postal problems” but since this date I have repeatedly contacted Italopapst to get an update on the situation. The initial reply was that my order would be checked and then resent asuming that it was found to be missing. Since then no replies to numerous emails. I also took out the insurance option which seems to be worthless in my situation.

I have yet to request a refund but will shortly although i am not going to hold my breath! Ho…hum!

Got a fellow Dane in the same situation as you. Italopapst was fine for a while but today they/he is definitely not recommended.

yeah still waiting for my stuff, too. it was the last time I ever ordered there.

I would strongly recommend www.HKFlix.com . They have a wide selection of European releases, competitive prices due to weak US dollar, afordable postage charge (USD 2,50 per disc) and reliable delivery.

excellent tip, amigo. they even have german discs that are cheaper than amazon.de (beat that, my favorite online shop!) and with the exchange rate, even the 2,50 per disc shipping is really still a good deal, true true…

XJUGGLER.DE
(a third-party seller platform specializing in age-restricted films, games and other media. Ebay for Adults so to say)

[ul][li]URL: www.xjuggler.dehttp://www.xjuggler.de[/li]
[li]Pros: Huge range of products usually too expensive on Amazon or not available on most places. A good place to shop for age restricted Spaghetti Westerns or… hardcore porn if you fancy. Generally good prices.[/li]
[li]Cons: Only in German, usually no PayPal. Can’t say anything about transparency, haven’t used it often enough. So far I ordered a few things and did not have any problems. The platform has just been overhauled, but is still a bit confusing.[/li]
[li]Verdict: When I’m I will test it some more, so far I have ordered a few things and was positively impressed. It’s like ebay but you get age restricted material there. Use with caution though.[/li][/ul]

DVDPACIFIC.com

US based online DVD retailer.
URL: WWW.DVDPACIFIC.COM

Pros: Great selection of DVD’s, not just westerns. Great prices. Many titles run for under 10 bucks. Easy to navigate site and first rate customer service. Speedy email response. Decent customer service line as well. Carries all of the region 1 spaghetti western labels outside of wildeast such as MGM, VCI, Paramount etc. Most importantly is that you won’t run into any bullshit.

Cons: Only limited to region 1. Does not appear to have any free shipping option, even domestically.

Verdict: For region 1 discs this is the place to go. If only it carried wildeast products as well this place would be perfect.

XPLOITEDCINEMA.COM
(US based online DVD retailer specializing in cult cinema)

URL: WWW.XPLOITEDCINEMA.COM

PROS: First rate customer service. Speedy email response. Zero bullshit. The dude who runs it is a great guy. The best selection around. you can get just about any official SW release here, from all companies and all regions, and even some DVD-R’s as well. Koch, Wildeast, Japanese, X-Rated kult, you name it, it has it all. Easy to navigate site.

CONS: Somewhat high prices and shipping rates. Search function could’ve stood to be more specific. I would really like to see a top Sellers’ ranking as well. No PayPal.

VERDICT: Probably the definitive online place to get Spaghetti westerns, especially for new fans. One stop shopping for the spaghetti and cult movie fan. But prices are a little on the high side so if you can get a better deal elsewhere you might wanna pass. I for one am willing to pay higher prices for better service and piece of mind, but that’s just me.

(Admin: Added No PayPal to cons)

Sorry to interject a sobering thought but if you guys want anything from Xploited Cinema you should belly up pronto. They are sort of closing up shop and not re-ordering titles as they go out of stock. He’s already starting to run dry on a lot of spaghetti titles that we’ve been able to take for granted as always being available. If you’d had your eye on something I’d make a point to grab it by next weekend (Aug 22). Seriously.

thanks for the reminder, but I think most people are informed and have their credit cards in hand

CDWOW

[ul][li]URL: www.cdwow.net[/li]
[li]Pros: huge selections of DE, UK, US and AUS Discs (and CDs, e.g. soundtracks), free shipping worldwide, small packages to avoid duane, new look, accepting PayPal since new look[/li]
[li]Cons: only few spaghetti western, since it is new prices increased a lot[/li]
[li]Hints: You can change country and currency in the top right corner. Prices falter in different currencies. Just play a little with this function. (I saved 4 € by paying in pounds and not in Euro)[/li]
[li]Verdict: Before there was the “new” cdwow I always found it unreliable, but now it is good. When you know how to play with the prices, it is a good choice for all kind of DVD (mostly mainstream, but some spaghettis by e.g. Blue Underground or other HK or italian stuff). If you can accept about 7 days shipping (to Germany) then this is your shop. Big PLUS is the free shipping worldwide.[/li][/ul]

I liked cdwow better in the past… Much better selection and much lower prices and always sending from within the EU to avoid customs. Now parcels are also coming from Hong Kong which could be dangerous. You can get some releases cheap there though. The Danish Another World Entertainment releases they’ve got aren’t found any cheaper even in Denmark  American releases can generally be found cheaper anywhere else (dvdpacific / deepdisount)…

Also another con is that cdwow can be very slow in shipping what you order. If they haven’t got what you ordered in stock you can be waiting several months before the item is shipped (or cancelled). My last three orders with them have been between 2 days and over 1 month in shipping so don’t expect next day delivery

Other than that I have always found them to deliver great service though.

yeah I also think the selection has gone down dramatically

had never used this site before, but looks like a good one… All the Blue Underground discs are $9 and everything ships free. Nice

Although I get my very first order from them, I have to mention German store www.tele-movie-shop.de or shorter www.t-m-shop.de . My order consists of two discs and comes very fast in big Amazon’s  cardbord package.
BTW, they are releasing very nice books.

yeah they’re like DTM.at

Has anyone ever used Far East Flix?

No never used, but they do seem to have some good prices.

Well, I’ve just placed an order with Far East Flix… l hope I don’t have any problems…

I’ll post my opinion when I know one way or another.
