Lawman (Michael Winner, 1971)

Don’t know. The UK MGM DVD omitted one horsefall, but hast the nude scene. Unfortunately in whole Europe the same version was released on DVD , while in other cases only the UK gets its horsefall-free versions.

But then this nude scene, in thatspecial case it somehow looks better with the blanket up to the chin.

The Brits are such hypocrites. They love the Grand National but they’re sensitive about horse falls being shown in films.

And to me, it’s the most "essential scene in Lawman.

Good thing I have have the uncut version.

Not everybody loves the ‘Grand National’, but I can certainly see where you’re coming from, with the hypocritical bit.

I’ve just had to seek out a region 1 DVD of Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid, thanks to our shitty UK version cutting out the very offensive cock fights and horsefall…

Well, it is an ugly film, so it fits.

Watched the Blu-ray yesterday. All the violence is intact and that’s more important than the nude scene.

Can anyone explain why did he shoot the guy in the back at the end? It made no sense to me since it was very unfitting to his character and the guy did absolutely nothing to him. He threw away his weapon and was running away from Lancaster. I thought the movie was called Lawman and not Murderman. Lancaster was wayyyyy to cold. You could easily put him as a robot next to Brynner in Westworld.

What guilt? He wanted to take those guys in front of judge. I just didnt get why he shot the last guy. It was against his codex.

I think the guy he kills is the husband of his lover, played by Sheree North - this actually shows him to be more human, as it’s pure jealous rage, and he is no better in the end than the men he’s pursuing.

Well, you answered it yourself …

He flips out at the end, is overwhelmed by his violent impulses. The ending is quite dark, and the best idea of the film. Unfortunately it still does not work that great, like the whole film.

Anyone happen to know if the UK Final Cut blu-ray released in August contains the nude scene?

Just watched this one again, one of my favourite westerns of all time. It’s interesting that two of my favourite non-spaghettis are Wilson/Winner collaborations.
