James Bond
The above poster comes from an article speculating how OHMSS would have turned out, had it instead been released in 1967 with Connery as Bond

As scherpschutter said, interresting. It’s a shame it wasn’t made, as it would probably have been better than You Only Live Twice. Another one of those “what if?” scenarios.

Look what I found… Another James Bond thread:

And successfully merged

Watched On Her Majesty’s Secret Service with the family tonight. Always enjoyed this one although Lazenby is an inferior Bond and the quality is sketchy throughout. Sometimes it drags a bit, other times it has some of the best action scenes of the earlier films. I find it particularly interesting visually these days. You can really see it was directed by an editor who finally got his chance to be in charge. The fight scenes are very effective and different from the norm. Jump cuts galore which heighten the speed and harshness of the combat. If you don’t remember these it’s worth taking another look to compare them with other Bond fight scenes.

I think the fight scenes are ridiculous in this film, speeded up and exaggerated, especially the fight on the beach

Agneta Eckemyr, who was in the SW Blindman, also auditioned for a part in OHMSS

Agneta with Ringo Starr in Blindman

Here is a pretty cool fan-made trailer of OHMSS on Youtube

Rewatched Casino Royale this morning

I finally planned to watch Quantum of Solace, and I had heard it wasn’t a bad idea to pick up the previous one again before watching it, since QoS is a kind of sequel

I saw I had it listed as ma N° 5 favourite Bond on this thread. It must have impressed me then, but it sure didn’t impress me now. Once you know the story, and the final twist, the film seems drained from any momentum. The action scenes are great, but tend to go on a bit too long. In fact the whole affair is terribly overlong, especially the never ending card games. I don’t like card games in my spaghettis and I don’t like them in my Bonds either. Lousy film with some good moments. Craig is okay, but he’s more a gladiator than a 007. Tumbles down to the second half of the list.

I hope Quantum of Solace is better

Quantom of Solace is slightly better indeed.

Well, imo Quantum is much better, but imo Casino Royale is also easily the 2nd best Bond.

And I also think that the action scenes go on much too long, especially the one in Africa, which is not very important for the plot. But I had no problem with the card games.

Why don’t you watch the 1967 version of Casino Royale instead, it’s very psychedelic ;D

It also has a pretty nice 1960s lounge soundtrack

I did … once … a long time ago … and never really recovered from the consequences …

I tried to watch it once… Really I did… But my stamina for bbaadd movies failed me and I switched it off after an hour or so.

Not seen in a very time, but interested now how crap it is.

Contessa Teresa di Vincenzo?

Diana Rigg

Brigitte Bardot

Julie Christie

Agneta Eckemyr

If this is a quiz I’m saying Diana Rigg.
If it’s not I’m still saying Diana Rigg

Rigg, Lady D

Just finished Quantum of Solace

In the first half hour we get a car chase, a rooftop chase, a boat chase, all so furiously edited, with cross-cutting, jump-cutting and God-knows-what-kinda-cutting, that you may want to start looking for a slow-down-button on your DVD-player. And all the time you ask your yourself: Well, it’s about revenge, but hey, where’s the story, where the hell is the story?

Well, it picks up after some 40 minutes, and it’s not bad, I wish they had developed it a little more. Judi Dench is in very fine form as M, and there are some nice lines too, for instance: “If we refuse to deal with villains, we’d have almost no one left to trade with.” Note that it’s a British official who says this. They aren’t all bigots, those Brits, that’s for sure. That’s all very fine. But when you think they got the thing on the right track, there’s another furiously edited action scene, this time involving planes, no less. And one parachute for two people. Does that ring a bell? There’s also a girl all covered with black gold, oil that is.

Craig is still okay, but also still more a gladiator than a 007. Olga sure is a babe, but I can’t say I particularly fancied her. Somehow I felt more attracted to Gemma Arterton, the girl who played Strawberry Fields.

All in all an almost forgettable Bond.
Sorry Stanton.

Looks like scherpschutter doesn’t think much of “the best film of the decade” ;D.
