I watched The Blue-Eyed Bandit today. An ok movie starring Franco Nero, with some fine music by Morricone. The plot is simple and the movie is never spectacular. Nevertheless, it managed to keep me entertained. The next Italian crime flick I will be watching is probably Di Leo’s Killers vs Killers.
Killers vs. killers is a fun movie, i put off watching it for ages (Di Leo in the 80’s! anyone seen The Violent breed?) because i wasn’t expecting much, after a few people convinced me to watch it sooner than later i thoroughly enjoyed it!
I just ordered "Convoy Busters " and "Colt 38 Special Squad "
I just got “Milano Calibro 9”, “IL Boss” and “Killer vs Killers”
IL Boss is by far the best of the three, this film is very underrated IMO.
Milano Calibro 9 is also good, but much more straight forward than IL Boss.
Killer vs Killer is okey, but not more than that. It’s not a real crime film either, its more like an action film, and a medicore one.

A man who likes his crime films, and why not!
It’s a shame not so many seem to get released now though.
Dorado, if you like these you should also get Manhunt (La Mala Ordina), also by Fernando Di Leo,
a superb Italian crime thriller starring Mario Adorf

I just ordered it yesterday
MANHUNT is one of my favourite Italian crime movies, Mario Adorf gives an excellent performance, i prefer it to THE BOSS (which is my 3rd favourite Di Leo film), MANHUNT and CALIBRE 9 are better than THE BOSS in my eyes (though i can’t make up my mind what one out the two i like best) even though THE BOSS is also one of my favourites.
I just received “Colt 38 Special Squad” and “Convoy Busters” both films from NoShame.
Both films are great especially Convoy Busters surprised me, this film has more depth to it than most crime films. It’s not one of Merli’s best known films but that is unjust IMO.
Ivan Rassimov plays a mean terrorist in Colt 38 Special Squad, unfortunately the film lacks some depth.
I just ordered the ATTORI A MANO ARMATA BOOK + CD.

I just received this Book + CD.
It contains an Introduction to the genre (2. pages) it’s done in both English and Italian.
An overview of the most popular and prolific actors to star in these films (55. pages)
Actors included are, Ray Lovelock, Luc Merenda, Maurizio Merli, Mario Merola, Tomas Milian, Franco Nero, Antonio Sabato, Enrico Maria Salerno, Henry Silva and Fabio Testi.
A short text lists name, place and year of birth and all the films the specific actor participated in.
Besides that loads of pictures and posters from the various films are presented.
Also included is a 22 track CD with some of the great music of the genre, some of the tracks on this CD should never have been released before. Whether that is true or not I don’t know since I’m no great expert on this subject.
What I do know however is that I have been listening to it ever since I got it, it’s that good.

Anyone seen this film? Opinions?
Designated Victim is a moody, atmospheric crime thriller with noir tendencies of films from the 40’s & 50’s.Milian & Clementi
make this film work.Clementi is in the mode of Luciano Rossi’s characters which I know no one can equal but Clementi gives a
class performance. If you are into the crime genre don’t miss this film.
I ordered ”Uno Bianca” a few days ago, and I’m really looking forward to see if they managed to make a “new” Italian crime film that is any good.
The film gets a good rating at IMDb so there might be hope.
I’ve never watched an Italian Crime film before, so whats your favorite film from the genre?
