Italian Crime Films

This is how my current top 10 list looks like.

  1. Revolver
  2. High Crime
  3. Almost Human
  4. IL Boss
  5. Violent Rome
  6. Confessions of a police captain
  7. Street Law
  8. Milano Calibro 9
  9. Violent Naples
  10. Manhunt

All great films Dorado.

Is there any dvd release of Violent Rome yet? I’d love to see that one.

By the way, all of you who love the music of crime films, I suggest you to get Beretta 70 cd. It’s great compliation with music from Micalizzi, De Angelis, Goblin etc.

I’ve been listening it now for weeks. It’s awesome.

There is an Itslian release but unfortunately it has only Italian subs and language >:(

Merli is as hard a motherfucker as always with Tomas Milian playing an evil hunchback.

Matter of fact, watch any Umberto Lenzi crime films with Milian or Merli (or both!) in.

Thanks, I’ll get a copy ASAP.

Some of the best italian crime movies is Almost Human and Live Like A Cop, Die Like A Man. But actually there are so many more brilliant movies that I could list for example The Big Racket, Heroin Busters and Kidnap Syndicate and …so on. I’m totally sold for this movies and there aren’t many in the genre that I don’t like.

I, too, like quite a few of the classic Italian crime films.
My favorites would include:

  1. HIGH CRIME
  2. TONY ARZENTA (aka, BIG GUNS. Directed by Tessari. Starring my man Alain Delon!)
  3. HEROIN BUSTERS
  4. THE BIG RACKET
  5. STREET LAW
  6. REVOLVER
  7. THE BOSS
  8. KILLER VS. KILLERS
  9. GAMBLING CITY
  10. THE LAST ROUND

I enjoy just about any crime flick with Merili, too!

Stepping outside of the Italian box for a moment, I would like to mention some French crime films that I absolutely love.

LE DOULOS, LE SAMOURAI, LE CERCLE ROUGE, SECOND BREATH (Le Deuxieme souffle ), UN FLIC, BOB LE FLAMBEUR…all by Jean-Pierre Melville (a director I hold in almost as high a regard as Sergio Leone!).

And I also like almost any crime film with Alain Delon. THE SICILIAN CLAN is a classic!
And so are ANY NUMBER CAN WIN (MELODIE EN SOUS-SOL) and LE GITAN.

French movies are also great, except the one you already mentioned I think we should lift up Belmondo also. An great frencg actor.

Absolutely! Belmondo is almost always great. And the original BORSALINO where he is paired with Delon is one of the best gangster movies ever, in my opinion.

Per sur la Ville (Fear over the city) is excellent, my favourite Belmondo

and a great Morricone score too!
