Italian Crime Films

So, what are people’s favourites? I’ve seen quite a few now, but want to make sure I don’t miss out on the best.

From the ones I’ve seen, of the top of my head:

  1. Milano Calibro 9
  2. The Boss
  3. Contraband
  4. The Italian Connection
  5. Violent Naples

Thanks. I’ve seen all of those apart from Violent Naples, which I’ve been meaning to see.

There’s quite few listings of favorites already on this topic, at the moment my top10 would be something like this:

Milano Calibre 9
Manhunt
Violent Naples
Almost Human
Live like a Cop, Die like a Man
Revolver
A Special Cop in Action
Violent Rome
Banditi a Milano
Big Racket

I figured there probably was, but I’m very lazy and didn’t want to read from the beginning.

Thanks for the list. I will check out the ones I haven’t seen.

My top ten.

  1. Revolver
  2. High Crime
  3. Almost Human
  4. IL Boss
  5. Violent Rome
  6. Confessions of a police captain
  7. Roma a mano armata
  8. Summertime killers
  9. Milano calibro 9
  10. Ricco the mean machine

Those films are a good place to start.

Gli Intoccabili…( Machine-Gun McCain, 1970) though Cassavettes was obviously ‘touchable’ for 12-years in the slammer… Probably my fave JC crime-film next to the Lee Marvin/Ron Reagan The Killers remake. He finishes an armed-robbery sentence, then gets released, joining his kid in a plan to rob Peter Falk’s casino. The film’s plot sort of evolves-into sort of a 3-city shootout in SF, NYC, and LA… with Las Vegas as the prime backdrop, as Cassavetes wields his fave weapon… a .50-calibre Thompson. A good Morricone-score, but slightly backgrounded a bit. Big-time rewarding… great acting, great action.

Just had to post again

  1. Milano Calibre 9
  2. The Cynic the Rat and the Fist
  3. Il Boss
  4. Violent Naples
  5. Rome Armed to the Teeth
  6. Special Cop in Action
  7. Violent Rome
  8. Italian Connection
  9. Battle of the Godfathers
  10. The Violent Four (Banditi a Milano)
  11. Ricco the Mean Machine
  12. Kidnap Syndicate
  13. Contraband
  14. The New Godfathers
  15. The Last Round
  16. Risking
  17. Live Like a Cop, Die Like a Man
  18. Manhunt in the City (1975)
  19. Colt 38 Special Squad
  20. Brothers Till We Die
  21. Cry of a Prostitute
  22. The Cop in Blue Jeans
  23. Silent Action (1975)
  24. Almost Human
  25. The Big Racket

Well, I saw Loaded Guns, which was not very good and not on anybody’s top 10 list. I’ll try and pick something better next time.

Come now. Ursula Andress takes her clothes off a lot, so it can’t be the worst.

Best line in it has to be from Woody Strode and the way he says it…

“You Beautiful Bitch!” ;D

Just finished viewing Highway Racer with Maurizio Merli.

Merli plays a police car style cop and he is pretty darn good. Some excellent car chases in this which are pretty exciting. Merli looks different without his moustache. Alot better than I thought it would be this one.

Viewed a widescreen english audio fandub of an Italian T.V print. Not bad at all, has a little T.V logo in the right hand corner. Have another print of it somewhere which is from a Japanese vhs if I remember correctly :stuck_out_tongue: .

Not much in it really. Probably say the fandub of the Italian T.V print. The Japanese print of course has the hardcoded subtitles, but then the Italian fandub has the T.V logo on.

Viewed Il Consigliori recently and the score was pretty good, and just noticed the score is now available on CD:

I’ve got to get that CD, I’ve got this vinyl but the CD has more tracks on it, great thumping score

LP has a much better cover though.
