Speaking of Belmondo, I recenty watched Le Professionel, which was pretty good. Cool actor, nice atmosphere (Morricone music). Back ontopic, today I received Castellari’s The Marseilles Connection with Franco Nero. Will be watching within the next week or so. Any opinions on that one?
Hmm…as far as I know THE MARSEILLES CONNECTION is an alternate title for HIGH CRIME (La Polizia incrimina la legge assolve). It tops my list of favorite Italian Crime films!
Just as an aside, Enzo told me that he really hated the title THE MARSEILLES CONNECTION because it made his film seem like a cheap FRENCH CONNECTION rip-off.
Watched “Almost Human” last night. Milian was excellant but I thought Silva’s role could have been developed a bit more. Still a great film.
Milian is pure scum in this film, an excellent performance
Yes, a good film. I like both of Lenzi and Milian’s tough crime films that I own (this one and Syndicate Sadists.)
Another Lenzi/Milian film worth checking is “Brothers till we die” where Milian plays double-role of two brothers.
Sounds cool. Has an English language or English subtitled version been released anywhere?

I watched Violent Rome today. Great film with Merli and Ray Lovelock. Great action scenes, thrilling car chase and the usual amount of excessive violence. Plot was qiote episodic but that’s usual in many crime films.
One of my favourite crime films, great scene where Merli gives someone a hiding on the bus!
Don’t know if it qualifies as crime but saw Secrets of a Call Girl aka Anna, quel particolare piacere last night.
Actually more drama than crime but got some crime elements. Actually a pretty decent movie, directed by Giuliano Carnimeo and with Edwige Fenech in the leading role. Her violent mobster boyfriend is played by Corrado Pani of Matalo fame. Recommended but probably not for the hardcore crime fans.

Yup, got it in a double pack along with A Whisper in the Dark a giallo of sorts with among others John Philip Law.
Just finished listening to the soundtrack to the crime film Milan Calibre 9 by Luis Bacalov , which I enjoyed and is quite funky.
Crime films that should have a DVD release.
They Came To Rob Las Vegas '68 - Gary Lockwood,Elke Summer,Lee J.Cobb,Jack Palance.Strong 60’scast make this an enjoyable heist film which has a couple of storylines.
Mafia '68 - Claudia Cardinale,Franco Nero,Lee J. Cobb,Nehemiah Persoff - What a cast!! Story of a murdered head of a building company becomes a police procedural.
Nero as the inspector is facing closed mouth citizens.Downbeat film that is a joy.
Gangster 70 '68 - Joseph Cotten one of noir’s great actors. Very downbeat, mean spirited, nobody gets out alive film that is riveting throughout. This version is Italian audio. To have this as a commercial release with English audio would be a coupe.

I completely agree with this list! These are all great.
I just watched Stelvio Massi’s Destruction Force with Luc Merenda and Tomas Milian (who is wearing the largest curly wig in the world). Disappointing film, the stuff with Merenda is ok but they’ve added lots of stupid comedic scenes with Milian which spoils the film.
Falling Man/Frame Up '69 - Henry Silva resigns from the SF police force for being accused of offing a snitch by two hoods.See what he has to go through to set the table straight now
that he is off the force battling against an ineffective law sytem. He’s after the leader of
the hoodlums who murdered the snitch & his son when the hit on him is missed. This
mysterious character is difficult to pinpoint since people know of him but don’t really know
him.The investigation takes a serious toll on Sterling’s mental health. When he finds a source
to divulge information about the man he’s after they end up dead. This is an upper echelon
crime film that is riveting.
Beautiful Frisco location shots framed with an excellent soundtrack. This film oozes 60’s style.
Note there are two edits to this film.
Just watched MILAN CALIBRE 9 again as I had not seen for a while.
A truly excellent Italian Crime Film directed by Fernando di Leo , with a great performance by
Gastone Moschin.
Lionel Stander, Frank Wolf and Luigi Pistilli also star in the film, with Luis Enríquez Bacalov composing the funky score.
Ahead of its time, with a great negative style ending.
