I Just Bought … (the SW Shopping Diary)

I’ve just bitten the bullet and sent off for:-

DAY OF ANGER - WILD EAST http://www.spaghetti-western.net/index.php/Giorni_dell'ira%2C_I

CEMETERY WITHOUT CROSSES - SPO http://www.spaghetti-western.net/index.php/Une_corde%2C_un_Colthttp://www.spaghetti-western.net/index.php/Giorni_dell'ira%2C_I

Both DVDs were quite pricey but plug gaps in my collection (I have all movies in the SW TOP 20 now), I’m looking forward to watching these and adding to the wiki pages about them.

Purchased some flix from Exploitedcinema

1 x ARMY OF DARKNESS (NTSC Region 3 SE) $17.95
1 x ROMANZO CRIMINALE [PAL REGION 0 RELEASE] $11.95
1 x THE GREAT SILENCE [UK PAL REGION 0 RELEASE] $15.95
1 x ATOMISED $18.95
1 x INNOCENCE $20.95

1 x DEVIL CAME FROM AKASAVA [PAL REGION 2 RELEASE] $18.95
1 x EVIL DEAD, THE [LIMITED EDITION 2 DVD SET] (COVER 1) $20.95
$187

I’ve seen ‘The Great Silence’ mentioned tons of times on here and it seems to a fan favorite. I have high expectations. I’m not for sure if anyone is familar with ‘Death Sentence’ but it’s another SW.

Does anyone own the UK Pal release of ‘Great Silence’? Just curious as to what type of transfer and quality is expected. dvdcompare.net does not list anything. Also, if anyone could provide me with some feedback on ‘Death Sentence’ that would rock.

‘Swamp Thing’ is one of those cheesy films I enjoyed air on cable back in the late 80’s. This is the 1981-1982 version. Supposedly this release has extra material that has been cut from the OOP US release.

It’s well known the region 3 release of ‘Army of Darkness’ is the best DVD edition (currently) on the market. Offering superb image quality. Hence why I decided to purchase this edition and not some silly “Book of The Dead LE”.

The Evil Dead LE Edition is limited to 1000 pieces and seems to have some neat features. I’m interested in watching ‘Within the Woods’. The DVD I purchased is already OOP but there is alternative cover still for sale.

Wide selection Sir, should keep you happy for a bit.
I received Fort Yuma Gold the other day from exploited, and my package had been officially opened by U.K customs.
I have not had this happen before.

But I did notice on the exploited site under Cannibal Holecaust, that U.K customs have been seizing some of these.

i stopped getting stuff of xploited, i used to use it a lot but u.k. customs kept opening stuff up, nothing was confiscated but i kept getting heavy csrtoms import charges

Whats up with that exactly? I assume its legal there? Hell, it may be here in the states also but I’ve never had it occur before.

X-rateds version of Long Days of Vengeance. Just had a quick scan and it looks pretty good. There are 2 versions on the disc, the Spanish release(98mins) and the Italian(118mins). Sadly, the shorter Spanish version is in the wider screen format.

I have had the occasional package opened, especialy from Holland (customs probably looking for hardcore porn!!!). I recently got screwed for €85 import duty on a camera lens I imported. If you live in the EU and are bringing in items from outside, you need to check what import duties apply in your country. In Ireland, we can bring in individual items up to €45 duty free.

This is a very good and undervalued film i’m sure you will like it, it has a lot in common with “the return of ringo” its only better.

Yes, I have seen these aswell.

Just received the French edition of THE STRANGER AND THE GUNFIGHTER, which is a lovely 2.35 widescreen edition.

May use Dvd shrink to remove the forced French subtitles though.

just received garter colt, thanks to silver, cheers luv :-*
May use Dvd shrink to remove the forced French subtitles though.
Is this really possible with dvdshrink? I didn’t know that. How do you do it? The forced subtitles can be very distracting some times and I’d be glad to get rid of those.

forced Subtitles don’t bother me, i’ve spent so many years watching Japanese, Greek and Dutch versions of films i’m used to it.

Any reason for getting this if you’ve got the Anchor Bay-release?

i’ve got the anchor bay release but a double version at that price, i thought it was worth the risk.

Yes, very simple really.

Each disc can vary a bit, depending how the disc is constructed.

On easy ones once the disc is loaded into the DVD shrink program, you can just de select which audio or subtitles you do not require.

However, there are more tricky ones, and that is the category THE STRANGER AND THE GUNFIGHTER (French edition) falls into.

Once loaded into the system you do not see a separate title for subtitles (in this case French), so where are the subtitles hiding?
Well at the start of the disc, a menu pops up with what audio options you require.
In my particular case I wish English audio (which comes with Forced French Subtitles), and this is where the subtitles are hiding in one of the menu’s on the disc.

So, you just re- author the disc in DVD Shrink, and just copy the film without the menu’s (which in effect is removing the subtitles).

I have just done mine today, so now I have a superb 2.35 print in english audio with no subtitles.

What do one get for one’s money then (which isn’t in the Anchor Bay-version)?
