Just treated myself in this morning’s sales, and ordered:
Down from £58 to £29 on Amazon. Can’t really argue with that price.

My movie buying has waned considerably over the last year. I still buy them, but nowhere like I used to do.
This morning, I ordered some old oater paperbacks. Still trying to finish my Piccadilly Cowboys collection…
For Christmas, amongst other things (including a hefty selection of books on film), I got on Blu-ray:
The Fall of the House of Usher
The Tarnished Angels
A Time to Love and a Time to Die
North by Northwest
That Battlestar Galactica set I ordered yesterday? It’s arrived already. Incredible!
I ordered a few DVDs today. All spaghetti oaters, though, so I suppose I shouldn’t mention them here!
As I mentioned on the spag buy thread, I’ve finished my Christmas buys! Here’s all the other dvds I got for Christmas:
Bloodwork
Hollywoodland
Animal House
Undercover Brother
And the Poliziotteschis I bought afterwards:
Young, Violent, Dangerous (Raro)
Contraband (BU)
Live Like a Cop Die Like a Man (Raro)
Machine Gun McCain (BU)
How to Kill a Judge (BU)
Syndicate Sadists (Anchor Bay)
Emergency Squad (NoShame)
The Secret Invasion from a South Korean dvd company, Mr Kingstreet’s War ( cos I’m a Saxon fan ;D ), The Last Hunter, and Red Scorpion.
Post-Christmas goodies that have arrived over the past few days on Blu-ray(all blind buys: films I’ve never seen before):
Casino
Dressed to Kill
Lifeforce
The Master
Apocalypse Now (inc. Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse)
Though I prefer BODY DOUBLE, DRESSED TO KILL is an excellent film.
Mad Max blu-ray from flee market. I still haven’t seen it before though I’ve seen the sequels many, many times.
You’ve never seen it? Well, you’re in for a good time. I immensely enjoy MAD MAX. And I always get a chill when he visits Goose in the hospital. I’m sure you’ll like it.
My latest DVD haul from ebay: Death Proof 2-Disc Extended Cut, John Carpenter’s Vampires, Batman Returns, John Carpenter’s Christine Special Edition.
Some good additions.
I especially like the CHRISTINE release. There’s some good scenes that were edited.
I love BSG 2004. Good pick. A lot of Canadian talent in that show and of course filmed in British Columbia.
I tried, but couldn’t get into that show. I do like its original run, though.

Yes, some great special features too. I have yet to watch it with the John Carpenter/Keith Gordon Commentary but JC’s commentaries are rarely boring.
I concur. Carpy usually delivers fantastic comm tracks. And the one on CHRISTINE is good. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
In anticipation of the second season, I just picked up BATES MOTEL.
At first, I didn’t like this show. But it gradually grew upon me, and I came away loving it.
Just bought
Razorback (Russell Mulcahy)
Uncle’s Paradise (Shinji Imaoka)
Swing (Mitsuru Meike)
Charisma (Kyoshi Kurosawa)
A Breed Apart (Philippe Mora)
Il Mare (Hyun-seung Lee)
New DVD:

It was okay. Way too convoluted for a humble jump-scare flick, and I think I’m tiring of well-meaning but glossy Hollywood horrors,. Still, I preferred it to the woefully uneven first Insidious movie.
