I Just Bought … (Non-SW Shopping Diary)

I didn’t like the first one, so never bothered with the sequel.

Oh, shit! I should have checked the cover more carefully, it wasn’t the first Mad Max after all but the Mad Max 2. Well, it doesn’t matter because I like the film and didn’t own it on dvd or blu yet but I begin to wonder if I’m gonna ever see the first one.

Finally gotten around to buying the region 1 DVD of the 1958 Hammer classic “The Revenge of Frankenstein” after about 3 years of it being on my to-get list.

Haha! ^^

Go on some online store page now, and order the first Mad Max immediately. I guarantee you, you won’t regret it!

As I’ve previously mentioned, I’m a big fan of the original MAD MAX. You can’t go wrong with it.

And what’s the take on FURY ROAD? Anyone interested in that one without Mel Gibson in the role?

Hmm, without Mel Gibson, I don’t know. I guess I’ll watch the trailer and read a few reviews. Hope they won’t go with much CGI-stuff…

I hope not, either. My expectations are low, but I’ll still watch it.

Just got: What Have They Done to Your Daughters, French Sex Murders, Savage 5, Pitfall (1948), The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, Black Magic (Shaw Brothers) and The Mask of Diijon. My to watch list keeps piling up!

The Haunted World of El Superbeasto

I really like Rob Zombie, but feel he fumbled the ball with this one. I hope you like it, though.

What Have They Done to Your Daughters

Good film.

I just bought The Toolbox Murders, Castle Freak bluray, Hardware 2disc, Slumber Party Massacre, The Prowler and The Big Gundown bluray.

You bought some goodies!

Detour (Edgar Ulmer)
The Lost Moment (Henry James)
A Doll’s House (Joseph Losey)
Sudden Death (Peter Hyams)
The Border (Tony Richardson)
Sorrel Flower (Georges Lautner)
Execution Squad (Steno)
The Unforgiven (John Huston)
Madigan (Don Siegel)

Detour is one of my all time favorite movies. Proves it’s possible to make a great film with almost no budget!

Will watch it now, guess I’m currently in a mini-US-30s-40s-marathon.

And the shopping spree continues. Don’t remember the last time I bought so many DVDs or Blu-rays in a month. ;D

He Walked By Night (Alfred L. Werker, Anthony Mann)
From Russia With Love (Terence Young)
The Hard Way (John Badham)
The Associate (Donald Petrie)
Jet Pilot (Josef von Sternberg)
Airport '77 (Jerry Jameson)
Memoirs of an Invisible Man (John Carpenter)
Village of the Damned (John Carpenter)
Trespass (Joel Schumacher)

Memoirs of an Invisible Man (John Carpenter)

I love Carpy, but can’t stand that film. Decent F/X, though.

He Walked by Night has some of the best film noir cinematography. That’s a good one.

FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE is a goodie, too. Robert Shaw makes for a great villain.

Just purchased NoShame’s A Man Called Magnum and The Last Round

I just bought a few CDs. Rounding out my Molly Hatchet collection with their second greatest hits package, a cover album, and a live show.

Yeah, watched the film yesterday, and it is excellent.

@Marvin

Never was interested in this one Carpenter, but I guess now is the time. Robert Shaw is of course always great. ;D
