That’s the thing with newer generation 4k screens, they upscale almost too well
I’ve just bought several Blurays from ‘Powerhouse Indicator’ in their 3 for £20 deal…
Some ‘Hammer Horror’.
Underwater thrills…
Walter Hill’s biographical tale of ‘Geronimo’, portrayed perfectly by Wes Studi.
Robert Altman’s debunking of the Wild West. Paul Newman excels as William F. Cody.
Also:
An excellent rotoscope adaption of the Philip K. Dick Sci-Fi novel…
Lastly, some films to get my teeth into…
Three more blurays…
Plus, from ‘Amazon UK’, I’ve pre-ordered ‘Scarface’, due to be released on November 18th…
I’ve just pre-ordered two Blurays from ‘Amazon UK’…
Due out on November 11th
Due out on December 2nd
I’ve also just placed a pre-order on ‘Arrow’ for 'The Great Escape’ limited edition Bluray - due to be released on December 2nd.
Alongside ‘The Good, The Bad and The Ugly’, the ‘GE’ is my joint-favourite all-time beloved movie…one that I never grow tired of watching.
Just in time for ‘Chrimbo’ … I still love his one, and can’t see it getting fired into the ‘Classics I never need to see again’ thread … unless someone else does LoL
Many happy repeat viewings of thee all time belter!
Also got this one pre-ordered Toscano! I am actually quite excited to check out the made-for-TV sequel, it looks pretty fun and its cool they included it in 4K too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=be3Le-Q2eRg
Also got that 4K of Godzilla pre-ordered too. Waiting for a cheaper standard 4K for Minus One though, the 4K special edition is like £65!
Many thanks for that, amigo.
‘The Great Escape’ will be arriving just in time for my birthday, in Dec; and - as well as visiting it periodically throughout the year for certain scenes - I never fail to watch it at Christmas. It’s not just a tradition, but a genuine guilty pleasure that seems to get better every year.
I used to be friendly with one of the main actors, Angus Lennie, who played ‘Ives the Mole’.
Although I never got to meet him, we corresponded on the phone, and in the occasional letter.
He always had an anecdote to share, and some fine memories of working on the ‘Great Escape’ set. He had high praise for Steve McQueen, Gordon Jackson, and Richard Attenborough etc.
Angus also shared his experiences of working on TV’s ‘Dr. Who’, alongside Patrick Troughton and Tom Baker; and with Cliff Robertson in ‘633 Squadron’ (1964).
Sadly, Angus died in 2014…
