How you can make this site great

It’s cool that you post here in the make this site great thread. But if you become a deputy you could probably make this site great with the rest of us.

I wrote a review of W Django in the database, but for some reason it was deleted.

I was not really a review, more an opinion (it was categorized as such too)
It’s not a problem to have some texts like these in the database, especially concerning rare films, but normally such opinions are better published in the forum’s film thread.
Most of these shorter ‘opinions’ have been written and loaded up when we had only few real reviews.

Here are four examples of reviews:

http://www.spaghetti-western.net/index.php/A_Fistful_of_Dollars_review

http://www.spaghetti-western.net/index.php/The_Good%2C_The_Bad%2C_The_Weird_review
http://www.spaghetti-western.net/index.php/Taste_of_Death_(Quanto_costa_morire)_Review

It’s still here Silence. It was just re entered as an opinion with a link on the film’s page.
Here it is:

The link on the Main Page is working too now

(Previously you were directed to the Film’s page)

well yeah sorry I removed the link from the main page, as I thought putting this little paragraph of opinion up as news would set a bad precedent actually. don’t get me wrong, I value these short mini reviews a lot and favor them myself over longer reviews, especially when i’m writing it… but I kinda don’t think they constitute an effort that had to be announced on the main page

It works now, thanks for adding my database name to the main page!

It’s been done, and recently! In fact, I think the idea came up this November! However, great idea and thanks for contributing :)!

yep we’re working on it, there’s a topic for it even, chip in, your ideas are most welcome

the best site of the web!!! 8)

The question being: how could we make it better ;)?

A huge effect would certainly be higher quality all around. That means consistent formatting of sub pages, no wasting of space, and most importantly better navigation. The Wiki has an option to show dead end pages and orphaned pages. These need to be reduced. We need to a) reduce the number of pages in the SWDB that are not linked to from anywhere and b) the number of pages that are dead ends, i.e. they do not link to any further pages. We need more links, to actors, directors, related movies, related articles, etc… a vistor of the SWDB should not get “stuck” somewhere.

That reminds me to keep translating the Introduction.

I will remind you if you forget  .

Maybe you could add some kind of site map. Even just more obvious links on the main page would make it easier to know exactly what the site have to offer. There’s a lot which you’d never know was there unless you trawled through all the updates. For example, I really liked the Tony Anthony special, but it’s been replaced by the Man With No Name special; I have no idea where the Tony Anthony went to or what other specials there were which I’ve missed.

good point. btw it’s under “focus films” but the search will always help you.
but feedback noted, i will think of something. sitemaps are complicated because the wiki is not hierarchical

Thanks Ennioo ;).

a website that it has everything for a spaghetti westerns tons of reviews, and many members
i believe the genre will never end as long this website lives!

Just think of all the people that dig the sw that don’t know about this website

I try to spread the word as much as possible.
