How you can make this site great

how bout polling all members on their top 1o spaghetti westerns.adding up the winners and present a top 20 ,with posters of the movies by each .and a total percentage of votes by each.this will give new fans a ideal of what to seek out and it would be fun just to know what every one considers the best???

good idea, it’s just that this forum has so few members, it wouldn’t really be representative enough. first i think, this website needs to attract more members, don’t you think? at least double the current number

It may be representative enough. The people who have sought out this website are obviously pretty hardcore SW fans. You could always repeat the poll a year later or so.

or we start the poll now and let it run until we reached a certain number of votes.

so how about we open a new topic for “nominations” then figure out the 20 films we pick or 30, and then we vote, so that we have a ranking or something?

SOUNDS GOOD TO ME! i think it will be interesting to see who edges out for#1 between .g.b.u and o.u.t.i.w.hard choice.I THINK LINGUS MAY BE RIGHT THE SMALLER NuMBER OF MEMBERS May ACTUALLY BE MORE REPRESENATIVE,BECAUSE ONLY THE TRUE FANS ARE HERE,SO THERE IS NO “WATERING DOWN THE CHOICES” SO TO SPEAK.

so technically, how would you do the “election”?
20 nominees, 5 votes per member?

SOUNDS GOOD TO ME!

I don’t think that 20 nominees and 5 votes per member would be a good idea, cause we all know what the top 5 (or even top10) is going to look like. Besides this could end up in a result where we actually haven’t got even 20 different titles to get votes. To make this vote more interesting I suggest that everyone will make their top15(or top20) and then we’ll calculate the results in this way for example:
#1 = 15 points
#2 = 14 points
#3 = 13 points

One could vote for any spaghetti western there is. This way the result for the top-sw:s is still the same but we’ll get more interesting results after the regulars.
This is going to require a little more work in calculating the points but I think it’s worth it’s while. This could bring up some interesting titles that some of us haven’t even seen etc.

What do you think?

Edit: I see that there is already conversation going what titles should be and what shouldn’t be listed in the nominees. This kinda ruins the whole idea of ranking the top20 spaghettis.

I have a little suggestion; I think it would be great to have a section where ALL the SpWe DVD releases are listed, both titles already released and forthcoming titles. It should also include OOP releases, just to have a COMPLETE listing for anyone looking for any special titles. I mean, OOP titles can be found on ebay and similar auction sites, that’s the reason for listing even those. Waddaya others think?

This will probably be part of the page, but at first we have to fill the database up to 500 and then put information to every movie…

something like this:

http://www.spaghetti-western.net/index.php/Spaghetti_Western_Database:Commontitles

you can find that if you went to “browse all”
http://www.spaghetti-western.net/index.php/Spaghetti_Western_Database:Browse
something like this:

http://www.spaghetti-western.net/index.php/Spaghetti_Western_Database:Commontitles
I think something like that will be great but there have to be every SW which is listed here

i think it only makes sense with the popular titles, because most films have at least 5 titles, so how are you going to do it, and if you go to “browse all”, you’ll see links to give you the entire list, with the italian titles though.

…and some movies have the same names (the non-italian titles).

I was just wondering If it is possible to start a non western where we talk about everything and anything like " The Outside World " on the Tarantino Site, where we can talk about all kinds of films.

At least herehttp://www.spaghetti-western.net/forum/index.php/board,10.0.html you can talk about non-spaghetti western…

I’d like to point everybody’s attention to

www.grindhousedatabase.com

our new sister site

I have a question about Grindhouse/Exploitation, generally are those A boy and his dog/Mad Max Road Warrior rip offs from the 80s considerd exploitation cinema (like the movies on this site http://www.post-apocalypse.co.uk/ dedicated to that genre)? lots of Italian, Philippines and American-C productions.

nvm… should have been that lazy and just searched on the site :stuck_out_tongue:

Sebastian, I want to become a staff. What do I do? ???

you need to prove how much of a gunslinger you are  how fast do you draw your gun, silence?

no seriously. I usually hire staff spontaneously based on previous efforts. so you basically can just create yourself an account in the database and start editing away… living by the “do something great and people will notice” credo…

let me know if you have questions
