For a Few Dollars More / Per qualche dollaro in più (Sergio Leone, 1965)

well the availability is most likely not the issue, pretty sure they’d include it if they were allowed to

Eagle Pictures own the rights to the Italian audio, so it’s unlikely they’d share their biggest seller with Arrow.

While it doesn’t affect me personally as I would never watch anything other than the English dub for these films, it really sucks as I was praying these would be a definitive release. Although I probably wouldn’t listen to the tracks, I know a lot of you amigos would and its a damn shame they won’t be available.

It would be perfect to have for all Leone westerns the Italian audio with subs translated from that. Cause it’s the original version, the way Leone wanted it. The English dub is most likely faithful, but I would like to compare, also with the German dubs.

Hmm, actually so far I never watched the Leone Spags in English, except for half of My Name Is Nobody, the Hill half.

Do we know if this will be fully uncut?

We don’t, we just have hope  They have the luxury of getting things right by learning from what has been released before. and that fella was involved, i forget his name, the one on youtube with all the in depth version analyses

Got mine paired with GBU so got to wait till next month but had to watch my Kino blu after Fistful last week lol

German vs Arrow Blu (both uncut), interestingly Arrow, despite getting nearly everything right, misses one day for night scene…

There is also a detailed comparison up on the UK movie-censorship.com site for the UK Arrow Blu Ray vs other versions.

Was the Kino release uncut?

Nope, the German disc was the only uncut version until now.

Following on from FOD, the transfer for FAFDM looks equally as excellent. Also loving the extras on this one, particularly loved the Lee Can Cleef video essay by Mike Malloy, one of my favourite special feature guys.

High praise review just went up on Blu-ray.com. Got to wait to the GBU release date though as I paired mine with that but pumped that we are finally getting releases of these films that they deserve!

‘Arrow’ still gets it right in just about every other department, though…

Just some personal thoughts here…
It’s the best I’ve ever seen the film look…and it is certainly a long way from my early days when all I had to experience of Leone was the Joe Millard paperback…I must have read that about ten times before eventually viewing the film in 1979 on BBC2…and what a beautiful experience that was…

It speaks volumes that a film that was initially seen by many in a butchered, pan & scan version on TV, has gained such a following, and is so beloved and held in high esteem by SW fans…myself included.

Ironically, the versions that we are now watching are, I daresay, even better, and more complete, than the cinema versions that were originally shown on cinema screens in both the UK and USA…
And yet - even those ‘slaughtered’ versions attracted the audiences like bees to honey, and tax men to bank accounts…

It’s laughable that we have lost out on such a definitive and enjoyable version for so many years…
However, IMHO, it was definitely worth the wait…a beautiful, exemplary SW, that spawned dozens of bastard children - none of which could surpass the excellence of their spiritual father.

Lastly: It’s quite amusing on ‘Youtube’ to watch people viewing the Spaghetti Westerns for the first time…
I wonder how each of us would have reacted on camera when we first saw the films…?
