[DVD] Latest and Upcoming Releases

Code Red release of Cut Throat’s Nine (double feature with Joshua starring Fred Williamson) August 16th. Hopefully it looks as good as The Dead are Alive, which was also released previously by Eurovista.

Interesting releasing with Joshua. Just been reading this about the release:

A few words from Code Red concerning one of the double bills...

I’d just like to let everyone about the two releases that didn’t turn out the way I wanted. CUTTHROATS NINE was supposed to be a deluxe edition with an interview by English language rights owner Serafim Karalexis (president of United International Pictures) who paid the filmmakers to re-shoot the violent scenes, an interview with Jim Markovic who re-cut the film and made the trailer, and also a copy of the “terror mask” that was given out to audiences at the theatre box-office. In the end, Markovic couldn’t find the original mask, and Serafim didn’t want to do the interview. Without extras, I could never outsell the 2,000 copies Eurovista moved on this title. Since the Fred Williamson series sold less than 750 copies, releasing JOSHUA alone would also be a losing proposition. I figured that instead of sitting on the two films, why not double bill two titles that were going nowhere for a single release. Both films are mastered from 35mm prints and they look a lot better then those “other” releases (JOSHUA looks ten times better than those PD labels!)

No problem. Will probably get this release. Been wanting to see a better print of Joshua for a while now.

From Wild East, August 22

Eh… I didn’t buy with Road to Fort Alamo when Koch put it out, should I be interested? I like Bava a lot, but Roy Colt and Winchester Jack was not my cup of tea…

Announced for November 8 from Wild East - A Giuliano Gemma / Duccio Tessari double feature

Sartana’s Here… / Django Against Sartana up for pre-order with a release date of Oct. 11 or 25 (?), depending on which page you go to

I don’t mind the other genre releases from WE but I wish the double features would include films from same genre only.

Mario Bava is probably my favorite director of all time. But his westerns are shit.

[/quote]My one arrived today.

How did they not notice the typo though!

Looking forward,too
Think it’s the first chance to watch this with english audio and there’s also no german release.

A double Gemma is always welcome but, truth be told, neither of these films are very good and Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang in particular is a real disappointment considering the people involved.

On another note, I wonder what version of Alive, or Preferably Dead this will be. Hopefully, the full length one not the Sundance and the Kid version.

Alive, or Preferably Dead in widescreen may improve things a little for me, but no not a great film.

Yeah you are probably like me and stuck with the SPO fullscreen.

Would rather they release Sky Full of Stars for a Roof, instead of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

Good point, not sure on that one.
