All I was saying in response to you was that surely you can see why he has the kind of reputation that he does. Surely its easy to see, and not some kind of mystery. Beyond that, I’ve certainly never declared his films to be boring, and have already admitted to enjoying certain films of his in the past.

Sure but I do place his films on the higher end of the scale when it comes to the average spaghetti. If we can separate the classics and the semi-classics (you know the films I’m talking about) then we’re left with countless films that would be considered pretty low brow in the world of cinema but not necessarily bad films. So what is it about Fidani’s films that appeal to me? It’s the fact that they feel different enough from the rest. What I’m looking for from a film is entertainment and Fidani’s films fulfil that. They might not be for everyone but I do think that films, such as A Barrel Full of Dollars and Make Your Peace With God are just solid shoot ‘em ups and I’m not pretending that they’re anything else.

it’s about attempting to draw attention to yourself, by means of waving a flag to say, ‘Look over here, I’m different!’

It’s generally quite a young or immature person who uses this tactic … just like teenagers pissing off their parents by playing loud obnoxious music … or trying to shock by printing inflammatory statements on T-shirts … ‘Who is your favourite serial killer/ dictator’ … ‘Kill Your Idols’ with Jesus crucified etc … and I’m sure that has made many an elderly maiden aunt come over all faint.

And it isn’t for these reasons, it’s because I enjoy them. “Obnoxious music” is also very subjective.
