Well I never heard the devil takes soul through the neck. I rather think this made up story fits the ban-aid, but maybe someone can bring up the truth.
And MArcellus does not seem to be a bad guy who wants his soul bakc and become a good person, so why would god support jules and vincent in getting his soul back.
I don’t think the devil taking the soul through the neck is a known thing or cultural idea, the band-aid is just a little hint thrown in, a clue for you to help put the pieces together
Marcellus may not be interested in becoming a good guy, but depending upon who you ask :D, God would be for helping to save anyone’s soul- regardless of whether they are a “bad guy” or a “good guy”.
I’m not saying this is definite, because I have no idea, but out of the supposed theories, this one adds up the most or at least is the coolest
also after Idiot’s mentioning of the divine intervention protecting them from being shot, it occurs to me that this would add significance to Jules’s speech, “You will know my name is the Lord…”
Yes Jules believes it is divine intervention. He is also contemplating about his bible verse. That is why he buys the live of Pumpkin.
And the kids, what were they gonna do with marcellus soul. And so god allowed them to get killed so that marcellus gets his soul back. Well never been a great fan of god´s work anyway, but that sound not very clever to me.
Maybe its a foot, and quentin can live out his fetish
haha… or maybe the lord is laying his vengeance on the kids for attempting to destroy his brothers… i know Jules is contemplating divine intervention, but the lost soul angle puts an entirely new view on the whole thing… by finding the soul, he could even be the “finder of lost children”
continuing discussion from Top 10 Directors regarding Polanski’s Fearless Vampire Killers
perhaps its because I’ve only just seen it for the first time, but I found no joy in those aspects…
The slapstick and parody I found dull, forced and completely not funny… did not even provoke a hint of silent laughter in me. The “new rules for the genre attitude” I suppose may have been lost on me, since I wasn’t viewing it with any genre rules in mind… and I don’t recall any strong horror, but I will say the eroticism was present
Actually, I did like the unhappy ending, but that was all really.
I would also add, that it felt like some really boring guy decided to make a child’s scary movie Don’t mean to be offensive with a statement like that, but it comes very close to how I experienced the film
I agree with almost everything autephex said. This was a big disappointment when i caught up with this years back. And i do enjoy some of Polanski’s work, just not this. Over my head apparently.
Saw Fearless Vampire Killers a couple of years ago. Had enough beer present to make it enjoyable, but afterwards the only positive thing I coud say was that I flushed away a six pack. I didn’t find it funny. At all. It reminded me of a movie night when I was a student and there were a couple of Monty Python fans who insisted we’d watch some Monty Python. One other dude and me looked at eachother occasionally in disbelief when the two fans burst into laughter for the gazillionth time. I laughed not even once. Of course I could very be the one without a sense of humour as loads of people dig that stuff. But I can easily say I’m intelligent enough, I do have some wits about me, but still I didn’t think it was funny at all. And that’s exactly how I felt while watching Fearless Vampire Killers. A horrible watch when you don’t appreciate that type of stuff.
Actually, i think comedy is a VERY subjective thing. Moreso than just about anything else i can think of. Don’t necessarily think it has anything to do with intelligence either, we all just find different things funny. At least that’s what i like to think when i’m laughing my balls off at Adam Sandler, or Wheeler and Woolsey, or Abbott and Costello and on and on.
Fearless Vampire Killers cost me a fortune as drunk twice as much beer when viewing, then afterwards I drunk even more beer as I was so depressed after viewing this film.
I’ve only ever seen one Monty Python film, (And Now For Something completely Differant) and it was quite funny. Of course, there were just as many hits as misses.

Allright Frazer, I was only testing you
Doesn’t he say that to Arthur more? (This is something only people who have viewed the TV series will get)
