Casting your own western

In Honorarium of “Your Own Western”, the thread that started it all, here’s my own try at it.

Lee Van Cleef and Franco Nero as Union Army veteran buddies

with the aid of a sympathetic, no-nonsense Sheriff played by Gianni Garko

vs outlaw brothers played by Jorge (George) Martin, Gordon Mitchell, and Robert Woods

image

on the payroll of a corrupt Mexican General played by Fernando Sancho, looking to make a section of Texas his own little country

image

with henchman played by Benito Steffalini, Jose Torres, Piero Lulli, Aldo Sambrell, Nello Pazzafini, Antonio Molino Rojo, Frank Brana, and Raf Baldassarre

Jess Franco doing a Western - interesting concept

With facial-scars or interesting face-lines… hmmmm. Tough.

Give me all no-namers as much as possible. The audience is forced to pay closer attention to the story. Squeeze-in a Harvey Keitel every once in a while… an actor that seems like he’s in every film ever made.

Everyone has their favourite actors and actresses so I was wondering who would be in the members dream cast. Or simply rank their favourites.

We had another thread like this last year.

And inside that I think there’s links to at least a couple more similar threads.

I put it in the search and I didn’t see them. The admin might blend the two threads. Thanks anyway Phil!

I can’t imagine the overacting Milian in that role. It demands the Eastwood type.

Instead the film suffers from the miscasted Sancho, who can’t give the bandit leader a tragic angle.

Just for fun let’s put together our own Spaghetti Western.
The Director, composer, producer, the actors filming locations etc.

Firstly who should be the director?
My vote goes with Corbucci.

A Corbucci film starring Lee Van Cleef would be awesome for instance.

Music from Bacalov, like Django and Quien Sabe. Would like to see what he makes for Lee.

Yep. That’s a good suggestion.

Another good idea!

I’ve been playing around with some ideas I had in my head on Microsoft Word, but here’s a pretty ideal cast, crew etc. The cast will mainly be made up of newer actors, as all my SW ideas are homages/done in the classic style of the genre.

$1000 a Testa (1000 Dollars a Head)

Cast: Bill Tangradi, Ruby Rose, Marco Bocci, Mathilde Seigner, Luca Marinelli, Eduardo Yanez, Miguel Munoz Blanco, Robert Woods, Raul Pietro, Lorenzo Crespi, Francesco Siciliano, & Jose Manuel Poga

Directed by: Enzo G. Castellari & Roberto Jennizi

Written by: Bill Tangradi, Tony Nash, Enzo G. Castellari, Roberto Jennizi, Emiliano Ferrera, & Pedro Almodovar

Music by: Archive Recordings of SW Composers

Shot in Cinecitta Studios in Rome and on location in Almeria Spain and the Italian Mountains

In case anyone was wondering, Tony Nash is me, it’s my professional name.

Thanks Amigo, glad you really like it. I’m hoping one day that cast and crew can become a reality, or something close to it. I have a few others rolling around in my imagination if you’d like me to post them here.

I wrote a treatment for a Spaghetti Western about 10 years ago but THE LAST STAND came out and I threw it in the trash.
