Both Koch releases (Sollima Box and Rainbow Collection) have German and Italian audio and English subs. I watch it always in Italian with the English subs. (I only own the box version)
Well the german blu-ray release of this film has english audio.
Yes.
And it contains the 2nd German dub made for TV. Not a good dub, but the one for the complete version.
And the Koch DVDs are oop anyway. and for that much more expensive than the EM Blu.
I got the German one last Christmas! But I wasnāt blown away with it, so, Iād like to get this new edition if it has better picture and new extras.
Iād like to contact Grindhouse Releasing to confirm whether their The Big Gundown will be Region Free or Region A, but when I go on their websites and attempt to contact them, it says that Default Mail Client is not installed. Does anyone have their email address or know how to remedy this?
I think it is all region, and I think they even confirmed that to me on facebook⦠would have to dig to find that post though
They are a region free outfit usually. I think they would be mad to region lock it, or make it even more limited than 3000.
itās usually not the companyās choice but part of the license contract from the copyright holder. sometimes however they just put a region code on the packaging even though the disc is in fact not region locked. that also happens a lot
Anybody have any idea which version will be on the DVD, if itās not an extras dump?
Thanks Seb - Iāve already pre-ordered it and itāll be the single most expensive film Iāve ever bought, and as I donāt have a Region Free Blu-ray player yet, I want to make sure I can watch it!
region free bluray players are hard to get⦠even though they went from 8 regions to only three, for some reason while the market is awash with region free dvd players, it is hard to get good ones that have the bluray part region unlocked as well⦠those restrictions are ridiculous
If anyone wants to buy a Koch rainbow edition of Big Gundown, let me know
I havent even completed my rainbow
Same here. I might just keep it for the collection because I do have many of the rainbow titles, but at the same time wonāt have much need for it after getting the blu ray.
Just ordered it⦠Itās the most expensive movie Iāve ever purchased also. I thought about it though and it costs that much to see a crap movie, buy a popcorn and soda at the theater nowadays so itās worth it to buy this great classic and have in the collection!
Well the german blu-ray release of this film has english audio.
So does the German BD have the complete uncut version with English audio for all scenes for which English audio exists? Or does this new US BD have some more English audio in spite of being cut (in the English language version at least)?

For DVD players it is a software issue, so almost all players can be easily modified.
For BD players it is a hardware issue, so the player needs to be physically modified.
the German BD is uncut, and has subtitles for parts where English audio doesnt exist, same as the US BD will be. I am not sure if the US BD has some more English audioā¦
Im perfectly happy with the German Blu. I may end up getting the Grindhouse release as well at some point. Not too bothered if it has a few extra bits of English dialogue. Will wait for reviews, would like to have the soundtrack.
See I am with you here. I am very happy with my EM blu as well. I however will consider picking this Grindhouse release up if something in a review blows me away but it to me has a serious down side to the German Blu and that is that is the lack of the so called āFranco Cleefā cut with The full Italian version with English Dialogue spoken as much as possible and just converting to Italian with English subs when needed. That is my preferred way to watch but that is just my preference.
I have a hard time believing that they wouldnāt make the entire film available in English format, when they have all the necessary elements. But I suppose its not clear yet from the promotional material. It wouldnāt be uncommon for this option to exist but not be listed, as promo blurbs try to keep things simple and this would require explaining all the differences between extended English version, Italian directorās cut, and extended English with additional Italian scenes.
Seems likely to me that the āItalian directorās cutā will include option to use the English audio track with subtitles for the necessary scene, but could definitely be wrong about that.
In any case, weāll soon see
