I just happened to notice that Kochās Blu-ray release of āA Sky Full of Starsā¦ā is going to be presented in 1:77 instead of itās OAR of 2:35. It was 2:35 on the DVD release from their box set a few years ago. I wonder why this is and now I am not sure whether to upgrade.
I elect to think that Koch Media wouldnāt make such a gigantic blunder
The screenshots accompanying the release on the Koch Media website are also in aspect ratios closer to 2.35:1 than 1.77:1 which also fodders my optimism.
I would always take the spec sheets on the website with a grain of salt. On the other hand, as @The_Man_With_a_Name points out, it does happen from time to time. If the material they acquired for this HD release was scanned in a way that maybe damages on the sides or whatever were masked, or the material was a masked version to begin with⦠unfortunately I donāt have the disc yet so I canāt confirm
Yes but if you are Koch Media that will not happen I only remember them releasing one spaghetti western in the wrong aspect ratio and that was Shoot the Living⦠14 years ago.
Seriously this is not going to happen. They would be crucified.
I remember Koch did release another DVD in 1:33 some years back other than Shoot the Living⦠man I canāt recall the title, it was from the rainbow collection I believe. But point taken, Koch is almost always on point with the OARās.
Yes, that and Baldiās Hate They Neighbour were 4:3 open matte releases. The master was that way, and it seems they canāt mask it to the theatrically correct aspect ratio1,85:1 (or maybe 1,66:1) themselves.
Of course it is possible to get in that case via the zoom function of Player or TV an aspect ratio close to the intended one.
Mine has an arrival estimate of āJuly 2-July 3ā, has done (I think) since I ordered it on March 29. Itās still saying that the release date is Mon, June 25.
