Black Killer (Carlo Croccolo, 1971)

i saw this yesterday and wasnā€™t expecting much but i rather enjoyed it. it is cheap but keeps the attention and nice to see kinski in a bigger role and not a wholly villainous character. iā€™d agree with what others have said about the lady who plays the indian she is very sexy dressed like that. not well acted but never boring and has some good scenes. entertaining spaghetti western.

kinski shoot with a book looks stupid
i buy the dvd from ocean shores before a year and i bored sooo much with it!
dumb, stupid, and boring at the same timeā€¦

The trifecta.

And not only did Marina Malfatti look great
Marina enters in some good Giallos and she a nice lady
And Malfatti shows us her derriĆØre in this one!

Important Database information: Sarah Collins - and Jessica Dublin in Una pistola per cento croci/Gunman of One Hundred Crosses - are played by Croccoloā€™s ex-wife Marina Rabissi (as Marina Mulligan) and not by Marina Malfatti!

If youā€™re sure, you can change the info yourself, Jonathan

Yeah, liked this one a lotā€¦

Kinski is goodā€¦ but Fred Robsahm is the real star here, imo. The guy who dubbed him in the english version is amazing at delivering his lines.

Didnā€™t even realize that was Malfatti until reading it on here. Also I liked the dramatic soundtrack, works well for the filmā€¦

In 1976 she also appeared together with Croccolo in a short film about the Italian Canadian community, Franco - Story of an Immigrant. Today sheā€™s a TV and stage director.

The producer Oscar Santaniello had an agreement with the director (and co-producer) for a third western centred on a blind gunfighter played by Kinski, but behind Croccoloā€™s back he preferred to recycle portions of Black Killer and to a lesser extent Gunman of One Hundred Crosses to put together with the help of Aristide Massaccesi the anyway interesting A Bounty Killer for Trinity.

OK, this is my second viewing of this film, and it is 18 months since i last saw it and wasnt sure whether I liked it or not. This is my take on this and spag wests in general now. IT IS NOT A BAD FILM. Ok, the best way to view some spag wests, maybe most of them, is to know the basic plot in advance. Read the reviews and the forums first then you can appreciate the filming, sets, costumes and music etc so much better if you have an understanding of what is going to come.
I sometimes donā€™t now why some people watch ad claim to be fans of spag wests cos when it comes down to it they just slag off most of those they watch. Forget Leones dollars films, they are off the scale and nothing can really compare, but watch Spag Wests for what they are and you will find lots of fun to be had.

On second viewing and having read the reviews and forums I liked Black Killer a whole lot more, I noticed more and really enjoyed it. I read recently that of the 600 spag wests made only about 100 are any good. well I dont think i can agree with that. They need a special appreciation, they are a unique style of film totally different to yank westerns. I like 'em a lot.

Alot more than 100 for me, but I am biased re the genre of course.

Just finished it, it was a rather lackluster effort by Crocollo. First thing that struck me was the horrendous dubbing, the guys did an astonishingly bad job here. Totally distracting. Kinskiā€™s voice didnā€™t fit at all either. The budget limitations made the town look very empty and generally this is a seriously cheap-looking SW. Thereā€™s really not much to praise here apart from some good moments of the soundtrack and the scene with the bullet wound of the indian girl (obviously not because of the great direction). Quite dull overall.

Fred Robsahmā€™s dub (the voice of the guy who usually dubs Maurizio Merli) just fit perfectly, imo

Wasnā€™t focusing on the lips of each actor the entire movie, but it felt that almost 90% of the time it was seriously out of synch for almost everyone. At times, they werenā€™t moving their lips at all. What I meant regarding Kinski was that that voice they used was very unlikely to have been the voice of a man with the physical characteristics of Kinski,.

Well done! Your first step as a Spaghetti Western reviewer!

An highly laudatory Review, thereā€™s no denying itā€¦ ;D

Havenā€™t seen the film ā€¦ Iā€™m not in a hurry to do so ā€¦

Fine review, weā€™re going to hear about this young man in the near future

Nice review!!! Keep going!!!

Thanks guys. There are several other spaghetti westerns which arenā€™t reviewed yet, so I hope Iā€™ll write some more reviews.

Nice review, and agree with your most findings. Itā€™s been a while since Iā€™ve seen the film though. Perhaps a rewatch is in order.

Unbelievably, after two years (!) the error perpetuates itselfā€¦
