Home video news:
August was a pretty solid month. Releases of Django Shoots First on both sides of the Atlantic, a release of The Grand Duel in France, and a small deluge of re-releases and minor releases elsewhere (including Brazil and Sweden, for a change).
September will be interesting. If all goes to plan, Mannaja will arrive on the HD format, for the first time, ever in a new restoration, plus tons of extras (a German disc is also in the works). And while we’re still not entirely sure if Mannaja will be out towards the end of the month on the date currently set, a social media post by Treasured Films confirms that the restoration is in the bag and the disc finally in production. Have you pre-ordered? The restored editions of the Dollars trilogy are arriving in France with A Fistful of Dollars launching in several editions. Eureka brings more DEFA Westerns in a new box set, and a new German release of The Road to Fort Alamo arrives as well.

We have expanded our coverage of FNAC (France) links in the SWDb and we joined JPC (Germany, ships internationally quite well) partner programs. If you use any of these two, please use our links for shopping (even if you end up buying something else). Obituaries
Our head of obits, the spaghettiologist @Tom_B had to update the boot hill cemetery with an unfortunate 9 new obituaries over the course of the last four weeks. Rest in peace!

So we much rather welcome and meet you all on here on our own message board - no ads, no fees, pure freedom. We are trying out BlueSky these days, which is sort of like Twitter when it was still decent. If you’re on there, see you also on BlueSky, where we have surpassed the mark of 870 followers this week.

Efforts by the Almería district government show that efforts are now under way to restore and preserve the historic Cortijo del Fraile, which was not only the location of fame in Spanish literature, but also filming location for many spaghetti westerns, including most prominently The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.
