NEW STUFF IN AND AROUND THE SWDB IN
AUGUST 2025:
Emerging, ongoing and future improvement projects
No updates here this month. Some great contributions keep being made on a daily basis to improve location information, and in the forums we have additions on newspaper coverage of film releases, which should be a good lure for you all to read and browse.
Those of you who feel inclined to donate a dollar or euro or yen or real or whatever, head here. PayPal has improved the donation experience, check it out - and you don’t even need a PayPal account to donate. Also, whenever you shop at Amazon, click on one of the SWDb’s Amazon links first, it doesn’t matter which one and what you buy. We can really use the cash to beef up the server infrastructure, and if we can get enough donations we should finally hire someone to fix some major issues with the underlying tech to make the SWDb better and safer again. Home video news:
August was a solid month, with Arrow’s GBU 4-disc release hitting shelves (immediately sold out, but the non-limited editions of these releases can already be ordered), Plaion continuing its series, and a nice surprise for US-based fans: a new sublabel is dabbling in spaghetti westerns and reportedly this new release of Forgotten Pistolero is in fact quite decent (available from Diabolik only).
September will see the rest of the aforementioned re-issues of the Arrow releases, plus some re-issues in Germany, a much welcome release in the UK (with good extras) and maybe after a number of postponements, “Mesito” will finally see the light of day in Italy.
Please check the calendar regularly, we often update it several times a day!

Obituaries
Our head of obits, the spaghettiologist @Tom_B had to update the boot hill cemetery with an unfortunate 13 new obituaries over the course of the last four weeks.

Reviews:
Please contact us if you want your reviews published. We are especially looking for reviews of movies that have no, or very few, reviews in the SWDb. We publish them in all languages, and you don’t need to be a professional writer!
