Zorro Films (Westerns and Non-Westerns)

Yes, and maybe there’s also a Franco. In Per favore… non sparate col cannone a.k.a. The Million Dollar Countdown (1967, the opening credits are on YouTube) they are credited as…

OO

same here.

Practically all the most spectacular scenes come from Cabalgando hacia la muerte a.k.a. The Shadow of Zorro (1962).

Unlike the previous Zorro the Avenger, Spanish only production in which the western ingredient did not exceed twenty percent of the total, this movie is quite important in the history of the genre for a number of reasons

  • It was the first serious western co-produced between Italy and Spain, preceded only by the parody comedy Due contro tutti.

  • The first western co-produced by Alberto Grimaldi’s PEA, the company of For a Few Dollars More, The Good The Bad and The Ugly, The Big Gundown, Face to Face, The Mercenary and the so-called Sabata Trilogy.

  • The first not comical western filmed in Golden City (the FoD western town built in Hoyo de Manzanares), preceded only by the already mentioned comedy Due contro tutti.

  • Claudio Undari/Robert Hundar’s first western: he is even on the Spanish poster instead of Zorro/Latimore!
    27689

Including this one he was in six SWs directed by Joaquín Luis Romero Marchent…

  • Although of little relevance, the cast includes an eighteen-year-old Raffaella Carrà, very well-known some years later as television presenter, singer and dancer.

Does anyone know if the upcoming French TV show (its story) takes place in Spain or California?

According to this clip the set in Almería was meant to represent Los Angeles in the 1820s.

I see the next video shows the demolition of the sets … seems a bit of a shame to destroy the work, but then again it’s also good that the area returns to it’s natural state.
