I saw Alles is Liefde in a theater, but didn’t think it was too bad. Better than the British film it was based on, even.

Alles is Liefde is okay, just like Love Actually, enjoyable lightweight comedy stuff, no real shakes, but won’t spoil you night
Some good films have been made over the years in Holland and Belgium, but some stinkers as well. Flanders has produced a series of good crime thillers in the last decade, The Memory of a Killer (De Zaak Alzheimer/The Alsheimer Case) probably the best known. Holland has of course Mr. Verhoeven. El Topo spoke about The Fourth Man (De Vierde Man) a while ago, a less-known, remarkable Verhoeven film with Jeroen Krabbé. The recent Schemer, about the real life, nearly inexplicable murder of a 15-year old girl by her teenage friends, is also very good.

A film named New Kids Turbo (Steffen Haars) could just become the most successful film from the Netherlands here in Germany
Haven’t seen it, but it’s a big hit in Holland too
I think it’s based on a TV-series, but I’m not sure, haven’t seen it either and I might mix up things

Not my kind of movie. They made a similar movie in Belgium a while ago, one with a more serious background by the way, and most people thought it was fun, but I didn’t dig it. Me not likes, like the kids say today.
Haven´t seen the film yet, but I like the series. Crude and blunt satire of lowlifes. Pretty funny if you have little good taste. Nice that they did their own German dubbing, haha.

I think you slightly misread the expression ‘I hate popular movies’. ‘To hate’, in terms of movies, books etc. is more neutral than the German ‘hassen’ or the Dutch ‘haten’. I hate Batman Returns is the most common way to say that you don’t care at all for the damn thing

In Germany people also say they hate films, and this is of course not the same as if people really hate another, but it still seems too strong as an expression for a work of art (or entertainment if one wants to make a difference between art and entertainment).

It depends a bit on what you hate, the tone, the general context etc. But in general, when somebody says a thing like ‘I hate this movie’, it’s just a way of saying that he doesn’t like it, it doesn’t express any deep hatred. When somebody uses the corresponding words in Dutch ‘Ik haat deze film’, the antipathy or distaste seems stronger, especially when the verb is stressed (as if it were pronounced with three or four a’s: Ik haaaat deze film’). When we want to express that we simply don’t like a movie, we use other words, others expressions (Ik vind er geen klap aan, ik vind die film maar niks etc.)
French language kids often say ‘je hais l’école’ (haïr = hate). This doesn’t mean that there’s something wrong with this school (the building, the staff), it’s just the way they express the feeling that they don’t like to go to school.
I do not know how a Greek thinks about this

In Russian just say нравится or не нравится-- it’s pleasing or not pleasing (to me). Very simple.

The worst was probably Underworld 2 and the most boring The Good Shepherd.
