What Film Are You Watching Tonight?

BLACK BELLY OF THE TARANTULA 1972 Directed by : Paolo Cavara

BARBARA BOUCHET CLAUDINE AUGER Giancarlo Giannini Barbara Bach

One of the 1970s outstanding, fast paced, mystery filled Classic Giallos benefits from
the voluptuous presence of BARBARA BOUCHET and has Giannini good for once as the cop

My Vote for BLACK BELLY OF THE TARANTULA 1972 is 15.4 out of 20

If we are mentioning the ladies in Tarantula, you forgot Barbara Bach, who also have a small part in the role of one of the victims and she does that well :stuck_out_tongue:

Thank you Avatar I have gone back to ADD Barbara to the cast. She’s always cute.

Yeah, Ringo Starr is a hell of a lucky guy

Yes Alko these World Beating Classic GIALLOS often have stylish/beautiful Leading Ladies.

Next from the Italian movie treasure chest was Atlantis Interceptors aka I predatori di Atlantide.

Something about the land of Atlantis rising above water again and a group of Atlantiseans (give me a better word) consisting of a biker gang with very bad taste in outift (their leader wears a see-through plastic mask. Does it look funny? Sure does) tries to restore the world order to what it once was.

That means trouble for the ‘earthlings’ consisting of among others Christoper Connelly and SW-favourites Ivan Rassimov and George Hilton (playing “the professor”, the most laid back role I’ve ever seen Hilton in) who have to stop the ‘invasion’.

Directed by Ruggero Deodato and could and should be fun as hell, but isn’t really so. Pretty boring. Recommended only for hardcore fans.

BAD LIEUTENANT 1992 Directed by : Abel Ferrara Written by : Argo/Calderon

HARVEY KEITEL Frankie Thorn Victor Argo Robin Burrows

Well made, controversial, entertaining Thriller with Harvey Keitel as the troubled New York City LT who ravaged by drugs/gambling seeks redemption while investigating a nun’s rape
Keitel puts in a powerful, disturbing, dark performance in this unusual story directed by
"Driller Killer" Director Abel Ferrara.

My Vote for BAD LIEUTENANT is 12.2 out of 20

SOYLENT GREEN (1973, Richard Fleisher)

Saw the title in SD’s list of Post Apocalypric movies and remembered that I saw the movie in cinema, way back in the seventies

Pretty plausible SF, a bit heavy-handed and didactic at times, but well-told and engrossing
And watch that Chuck Connors confession!

I noticed that the movie had a distinct influence on some SF movies of more recent date, BRAZIL and BLADE RUNNER to mention only the two best known

Soylent Green is a good SF. I forget that Chuck Conners played a part in it. There was a good casting in this Movie: Charlton Heston, Edward G. Robinson, Joseph Cotten … .

Probably The Horse Soldiers or Hatari!.

Rewatch it, if only for that confession scene, Paco, it’s wonderful !

RESIDENT EVIL: EXTINCTION

I watched the film for Milla Jovovich, I have to admit, my favourite actress, although not for her acting talents
She’s in her mid thirties now, ad some critics suggested that her face was digitally ‘smeared’ to make it look more perfect and smooth
It seems hard to deny: in medium shots you notice irregularities in her face that are absent in close ups
Well, she’s a model and in that world this smearing is the order of the day

The film is standard post apocalyptic fare
Script sub standard, action OK
Not worth adding to SD’s list of PA films

Almost Human (watched last night). Thought Milian trod a fine line between a great performance and hamming it up a bit, but otherwise a great film. Excellent soundtrack too…have to look into whether it’s available.

Digitmovies apparently released the soundtrack just last year so you’re in luck

Watched Helm auf, Hose runter aka La Dottoressa ci sta col colonnello last night. These light Italian comedies are an acquired taste, sure, but this one is great fun. Won’t say much about the plot will say though that a penis-transplant is among procedures… Nuff’ said

Today maybe French Connection or The three burials of Melquiades Estrada. The Three Burials … should be a modern Western with Tommy Lee Jones.

Thanks for the info  I’m just waiting on the Stranger Returns ost, but i’ll look into that one next i think

It was this afternoon, but having nothing to do, i watched the two peplums that arrived this morning (Triumph of Hercules and Triumph of the Ten Gladiators). German audio only but the stories were easy to follow and a lot of fun, though the part where the gladiators dressed as women and “tempted” a bunch of soldiers kind of beggared belief :stuck_out_tongue:

Paco, in my opinion, “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada” is a truly good film. Won’t spoil anything about it since you haven’t seen it. I saw “The Valley of Elah” last night with Tommy Lee Jones. Be sure and watch it and “No Country For Old Men” if you can. Pretty much anything starring TLJ is a winner.

The Three Burials was really a very good Movie. I was suprised tha TLJ is a good director either and the music together with great pictures of the landscapes is also pretty good. “Valley of Elah” and “No Country for old Men” will follow in cinema.
