What Film Are You Watching Tonight?

Great comedy!

I don’t have it but will definitely have to acquire it. Thanks!

I myself found Deserter quite boring. And Bekhim Fehmiu was absolutely terrible.

Ohh, I thought he was good in the lead.

Settling down in a minute, with the choir-mistress and a curry, and carrying on tonight with another Chris Casey bargain buy - Il Boss … or Killer vs. Killers … or both maybe?

Both are great Rev, but I’d start with The Boss. The opening scene is one you’ll remember for the rest of your cinematic life!

Get ready for some funny shit!

It has the director’s cut of the movie along with the Tales of the Black Freighter added into it. This definitely has more weight to it than the theatrical version which I still enjoyed but this has a better feel to it.

“Scar” tonight in 3D

In honor of the storm we watched FARGO last night, JEREMIAH JOHNSON tonight.

Joyeuses Pâques (1984, George Lautner)

Fair Belmondo comedy. Still, if you watch films like this (and many others he made in the eighties) you may ask yourself what had become by then of the young actor who was once called one of the greatest French acting talents.

The jokes are only moderately funny, but they come fast and the numerous story twists (it’s a romantic comedy of errors) keep you entertained. Film got some notoriety for a few very brief semi-nude scenes of a young Sophie Marceau.

Watched the Cinemageddon torrent. For those interested: it has only French audio and no subs. Dialogue is at an incredible speed and especially Sophie Marceau is one of those French who don’t articulate very well. Even I had some trouble to understand her in several scenes. But then again, most of us are probably more interested in what she has to offer than in what she has to say …

Viewed Machine Gun McCain.

Just out of prison John Cassavetes plans a job which does not go to plan.
Nothing great but an OK view due to moody Cassavetes.

I won’t be watching it today, but next week I will be viewing my first Melville: The Red Circle.

Fancied some Mario Bava so I’m halfway through The Whip and the Body - wonderful stuff, gloomy, intense, perverse anf ravishing to the eye.

We’re going to see The Book of Eli tonight in the theatre. Previews look good anyway!

I’m gonna watch LA POLIZIA RINGRAZIA aka FROM THE POLICE WITH THANKS.

“Light The Fuse… Sartana is coming” tonight

The Land That Time Forgot was last night’s selection for family film night and hit the required buttons for our fun factor. A bit slow to start (we prefer the crap dinosaurs to start thrashing about straight away in these sorts of flicks really) but an entertaining ride for all of us on the whole. My only real criticism was that Susan Penhaligon was criminally under utilised. Any Brits here of a certain age who remember her on 70s TV in Bouquet of Barbed Wire will sympathise with my position.

Ace film - one of the most under-rated Italian crime thrillers.
