Hancock. tonight.
āThe Oklahoma Kidā with James Cagney and Humphrey Bogart.

My interest in Noir has recently become over powering. As well as my Giallo viewing. Itās taken over Spaghettis!
Even if I love Gialli, I think I stay with the good 'ol Spaghs.
āStagecoachā has been watched, one of the very best classical westerns.

A tough, violant prison film, documentry in style that has some excellent, dark, brooding photography (Iām not sure if it is Film Noir, however), that compliments the raw acting by the cast. Maybe not as good as the baroque prision melodrama Brute Force (1947), but still a damm good film, despite being marred by a just awful prologue. Highly recommended. 4/5.
Enjoyed alot John. Thought I had seen before but had not.
Yes, it was good. What would you give it out of five?
Difficult question John. Do not tend to rate movies on scales. Whether I enjoyed it etc with sometimes a few comments is about as far as I go
.
āThe Frozen Deadā ( 1967) tonight.
You are right. Ratings only tell you so much about how good the film is. I think itās more important what the reviewer says in his/her (PC alert!) comment than the rating.
Yes, I have a hard time rating a film in a numerical value⦠rating systems involving numbers tend to become too formulaic. Like ENNIOO, Iād rather just talk about what I did or didnāt like
Agree!
āThe Naked Spurā with James Stewart and Robert Ryan.
A Tony Kendall double bill in honour of his sad passing.
First up was Brother Outlaw (see that filmās thread)
and then Strategic command chiama Jo Walker which I think had the UK title of Death Trip. Not sure, as I only have the Italian release. This was the better of the two films with Tony obviously enjoying his Kommissar X environment. Utter nonsense of course but full of pretty girls, corny action and genuinely great locations. (this one is set in Turkey) Because I only have this in Italian I had no idea what was being said but it really didnāt matter. To be honest, understandable dialogue might just have got in the way.

I have seen only three Kommissar X films, but it“s my favorite so far. The Valley of 1000 Hills scenes are indeed great fun.
Yes, the Cappadoccia stuff is spectacular looking and well used. I must say the Italian DVD I have looks really nice. Especially as it was only 3 euros from a market stall.
I like all of the Kommissar X films I have seen (somewhere around 5, or so).
I think I will have a belated Tony Kendall memorial film fest, tonight, featuring four films:
Kommissar X: [b]KISS KISS KILL KILL /b
Kommissar X: DEATH IS NIMBLE, DEATH IS QUICK (1966)
Kommissar X: [b]SO DARLING SO DEADLY /b
UNA PISTOLA PER CENTO CROCI! (1971) --also known as GUNMAN OF ONE HUNDRED CROSSES, and confusingly my DVD-R rip of an old VHS release has the title ONE GUN FOR ONE HUNDRED GRAVES (basically the same title as that Peter Lee Lawrence Western)!
Should be a fun movie night here at the Casey Casa!

Are those three from the Kommissar X box set Chris or something better? Iāve heard the picture quality on that set is pretty poor.
These are likely worse than the Kommissar X set, Phil. These are DVD-R rips of my old VHS tapes from āSomething Weird Videoā. All but the first one are fullscreen, slightly soft prints, with scratches and all.
I would love to have/see these in better quality; but, just havenāt found them anywhere.
I know this one wasnāt directed at me but i have this set on order at the moment and have seen some screencaps and it doesnāt look good. The packaging is awful too. All reviews iāve read have mentioned how poor the quality is, in fact apparently during one of the films thereās a bit where the screen goes blank for a bit! Still looking forward to seeing them though!
I am in the middle of an action movie called 12 Rounds (2009, Renny Harlin)
The kind of movie that gives you a headache:
Chase scenes with cars, more chase scenes with cars, chase scenes on foot, chase scenes with trucks, cars, boats, cars, and in between a few explosions, falls, jumps, explosions and chase scenes.
Canāt think of any reason why I would like to finish this movie, but thatās what Iām about to do
