Yes, it was Cannon films. And yes, i am currently watching Avenging Force. It’s another Dudikoff classic! Actually it’s not a bad little film. Basically he and Steve James (from American Ninja) have to take on this bunch of white supremacists calling themselves Pentangle. They like to dress up in a pretty silly fashion and hunt people down in the bayou. The head guy is great…especially at the end, although his stunt double’s wig really leaves something to be desired! Parts of it are pretty grim actually…and it kills off most of the sympathetic characters in pretty horrible ways. On the downside, it has one of the most unconvincing and laughable dummies (doubling for a little boy falling from a roof) ever seen in a film! I’d definitely recommend checking it out though.
Yes, I will thanks, as it sounds my kind of film.
You never know I may have already seen it, and have forgot.
I used to watch a heck of a load of films in the eighties, and do not remember sometimes until perhaps it pops up on T.V or something.
Cannon films churned out loads of action films in the eighties, with Charles Bronson and Chuck Norris doing quite alot of films for them, but I guess you already know this.
The MEDUSSA (not to sure whether spelt correct) Video film label also did alot of interesting stuff, have you seen the LAMBERTO BAVO flick called BLASTFIGHTER (with big George Eastman in) ?.

Oh God yes…with that Michael Sopkiw (how the hell do you pronounce his surname?) guy. I really liked that one. I do have a couple of others with the same guy (Massacre In Dinosaur Valley and After The Fall Of New York…George Eastman was in that one too!).
I really like BLASTFIGHTER aswell.
I always remember alot of these films tend to have quite pop style soundtracks.
Yes, I know what you mean about his name, and I will not try as to late, but he is quite a handsome hunk!
I have a copy of AFTER THE FALL OF NEW YORK on the cheap U.K label called 23rd Century, and appears an uncut print (even compared to the old U.K pre-cert tape, on the V.T.C label as I recall), and it only cost me a pound.

LOL! He’s OK i guess…not quite my type! I did read an interview with him years ago tho and he seems to have lead an interesting life. Damn…you got the dvd for £1?! I got the R1 dvd and it cost me about $20!
You are right alot of these actors and actress’s lead interesting lives.
That is correct 1 U.K pound, and my guess it is probably ripped of an official DVD release.
Just out of curiosity Silver, what do you do for a living, if that is not being to nosey?

Actually, i’m going to sound pretty lazy here. I used to work for USDAW… (the Union Of Shop, Allied and Distributive Workers), but i have a young daughter, who unfortunately was diagnosed as severely autistic, so at the moment i have had to give up work. But i don’t spend all my time watching the tv…honestly![/quote]
No, thats does not sound lazy, that is hard work!
I sometimes babysit for my brother and it is a nightmare!
I appllied for a job at USDAW once, but got blown out, but now I am self employed.

Really? I liked it, because i tended to be pretty argumentative and the training courses were always fun. We had to write and deliver speeches…my first one was about banned films, and the question of whether films can cause people to act violently! So, what do you do?
I applied in the early nineties as I recall, whilst working as a boring Insurance Clerk as I recall!
I have read an interesting book about banned films, but cannot recall the title…
Argumentative, there is nothing like a good argument Silver!
I sell film memorabilia now, which mainly consists of Film Posters from the late 60’S and the 1970’s (Spaghetti Westerns included).

This book…was it See No Evil? Or maybe Seduction Of The Gullible?
Selling film memorabilia sounds interesting. I do collect a few bits concerned with spaghetti westerns, but generally i guess the films themselves come first.

Yes its not bad, and it pays the bills, but I am like you really the films come first!
Thats right, it was SEE NO EVIL, and I really enjoyed the read, but I think I sold it when I was poor and needed the cash !
Did you use any info from the book for your speech, or was it not published then?
Did you ever own any of the BANNED films on VHS?.

I still have the book. And no, no quotes…this was before it was published. I just remembered stuff about the Bright Bill etc.
I did see quite a few of the films on the list, though i can’t figure out why some were on it! (Cain’s Cutthroats and Visiting Hours for instance). It’s strange; i used to really love horror films as a kid but i kinda lost interest as an adult! I got rid of loads of videos a few years ago, and just recently have gone through all my dvd’s, clearing stuff out.
Back to the memorabilia, i only really collect stuff concerned with a particular actor…but i think he’ll remain nameless…!

Yes, I could never understand why most were on the list, as alot of them were still cut anyway.
Cains Cuththroats took me ages to get, and I think that was on VTC as I recall.
Like you I used to really like Horror (and I still watch a few), but prefer other genre’s now.
I am like you on your particular actor, as I collect on a certain actress that will also remain nameless!

Well, a bit of mystery is a good thing!
Well, it’s been good talking to you, but i guess i better at least try to get some sleep…(long day tomorrow), and to try to get back on topic a little, i’ve just been watching The Thing!
Goodnight!

Mystery is a good thing, and that is perhaps one of the reasons why I like Spaghetti Westerns!
We will perhaps have to start a new topic on THE THING, as this is one of my favourite Carpenter films (I have presumed you have been watching this version).
Good talking to you, and Adios!
Well, a bit of Bruce tonight in LAST MAN STANDING.
Ry Cooder has done some excellent soundtracks, especially to Walter Hill films.
My favourite score of Cooder’s is SOUTHERN COMFORT.

Yes. it was the Carpenter version, though i do have both. Maybe a topic on the Thing would be good, though on my part it probably wouldn’t be objective as i could never find one bad word to say about that film!
i love the Carpenter version, it’s one of my favourite horrors of the 80’s, the scariest moment for me has to be the bit where they are giving him the electric heart paddles and his chest opens up with massive teeth!
i remember getting a replacement video quite a few years ago and when Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” was supposed to be playing on T.K. Carter’s cassette there was a diffrent song instead!!!
i must admit also that i have never seen the black and white version,is it actually worth watching or is it a case of the remake being far superior?
I love Walter Hill movies, as youprobably all know LAST MAN STANDING is another reworking of YOJIMBO.
apart from A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS does anybody know what other films have copied this story, i should imagine there is quite a few, i picked one up called THE STRANGER (1995)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060821/
ive heard it’s a YOJIMBO retelling but imdb reviews say “HIGH NOON” (Which i haven’t actually seen), does anybody know (ive got so many things to watch i don’t know when i’ll actually get around to watching it)
