Now that is a different list

That’s what I call a rather unusual list too, with 4 films in the top 20 not mentioned in the 100 lists before. The 2nd Halleluja for example.

And Shoot the Living, which got in it’s thread at the beginning several bad reviews, is now surprisingly a top 50 film!

Time to change my top-20 as well:

old one:

 1. For a few dollars more
 2. For a fistful of dollars
 3. The good, the bad and the ugly
 4. The great silence
 5. Cut-throats 9
 6. Death rides a horse
 7. Day of anger
 8. Django
 9. The big gundown
 10. Companeros
 11. Once upon a time in the west
 12. A fistful of dynamite
 13. If you meet Sartana…
 14. Blindman
 15. They call me Trinity
 16. Quien Sabe?
 17. God said to Cain
 18. Ringo Kill
 19. Sabata
 20. Mannaja

new one:

 1. For a few dollars more
 2. For a fistful of dollars
 3. The good, the bad and the ugly
 4. The great silence
 5. Cut-throats 9
 6. Light the fuse…Sartana is coming
 7. $10.000 Blood money
 8. They call me Hallelujah
 9. Sabata
 10. Django
 11. Have a good funeral my friend Sartana will pay
 12. Death rides a horse
 13. Day of anger
 14. Companeros
 15. The big gundown
 16. Once upon a time in the west
 17. They call him Cemetery
 18. Navajo Joe
 19. Mannaja
 20. Johnny Oro

Shoot the living… pray for the dead is in my opinion a very atmospherical little movie with Kinski in one of his best western parts with a great unusal music from Mario Migliardi, who also made the great score for Matalo!.
Return of Halleluja is one of the nicest, I couldn’t find a good translation, movies I have ever seen with a wonderful nice music and a great cast and even with a good german dubbing.
I also found that Wertmüllers The Belle Starr Story is not one of the best but one of the most interessting italian western and Elsa Martinelli is very hot in this.

I like Shoot the Living too. And the Wertmüller film has its moments.

What about the first Halleluja? The score is even better imo and it’s generally viewed as the better of the 2. I’m surprised that you prefer the 2nd without having the 1st in your top 40.

But the German dub for both is … well, it’s not completely out of place for these type of films, but it doesn’t care very much for the original dialogues (I only say “Erwin Pomerenke”) . In the end I can live with them, but prefer the Italian version with subs.

It is very difficult to explain but the 2nd Halleluja has more this easy feeling, I can’t really explain it in english, like the very nice, naive and innocent movies from Barboni with Spencer and Hill also the music is more this way. The german dubbing has some misses, that’s right but in general it is very good.
The first Halleluja is also not bad, also the other Carnimeo comedy-western, but ist not my favourite.

This is in order of enjoyment, rather than artistic or technical merit

Hi everyone, I’ve been out of touch with most of you for a while. Hope everybody is doing ok and watching lots of Spaghettis.

The Forgotten Pistolero
Heads or Tails

Favorite Political Spags (sorry Stanton, no Mercenary)

Matalo!

Ten (not so) Guilty Pleasures

Black Killer
Gunman for One Hundred Crosses

Howdy to Phil, Rev, Stanton, Bluntwolf, Ennio, Korano, et al

Howdy, Romaine!
Good to see you around here, again!

I looked back over the pages of this thread and didn’t see a Top 20 from me! I am sure I posted one before; but, I couldn’t find it.
Anyway…here is another, just for fun.

These are not really in any particular order of preference outside of the first 5 or so.

 1. FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE
 2. ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST
 3. THE MERCENARY
 4. DJANGO
 5. FACE TO FACE
 6. THE RETURN OF RINGO
 7. $10,000 BLOOD MONEY
 8. A STRANGER IN TOWN (FOR A DOLLAR IN THE TEETH)
 9. ARIZONA COLT (THE MAN FROM NOWHERE)
 10. IF YOU MEET SARTANA–PRAY FOR YOUR DEATH
 11. REQUIEM FOR A GRINGO (DUEL IN THE ECLIPSE)
 12. LONG DAYS OF VENGEANCE
 13. THE GREAT SILENCE
 14. DUCK YOU SUCKER
 15. JOHNNY YUMA
 16. A PISTOL FOR RINGO
 17. THE BIG GUNDOWN
 18. THE FORGOTTEN PISTOLERO
 19. 7 GUNS FOR THE MACGREGORS
 20. CEMETERY WITHOUT CROSSES

And I am sure that if I were to make up this list again tomorrow…there would be some variations! ha ha!
But, those top 5 usually stay the same.

Interesting list Romaine. Hope you are well Sir  .

No A Fistful of Dollars, Chris? Sniff, sniff. You have betrayed us. :’(

Studied some Italian lately? You got even the Italian title of “For a Few Dollars More” right (except for più). It’s indeed “Per Qualche dollarO in più”, and not, which would have been more logical, DollarI

In Italian qualche (a few) is followed by singular, not plural. In other words, they say: A Few Dollar, instead of A Few DollarS
