I’ve actually watched every film on my current list, just need to finish Da Uomo a Uomo. I’ve been on a binge lately with the Westerns so I might update it at a future time. Some I need to rewatch.
How many Spags have you watched meanwhile? You are just starting with the genre, yes?
The idea is btw to chose for the top 20 those films you like the most, your personal favourites.
I watched a bunch in High School then kind of forgot about them for a while when I discovered the films of Melville, Kuorosawa (rediscovered actually), Rosi, Suzuki, Bava etc. Two years ago I purchased a Region Free Blu Ray player and I was able to see the German releases with the original Italian language (watching all the other types of Italian films got me semi-fluent) and now they’re a part of my favs along with Yakuza Crime, Giallos, Poliziottos, and of course the Kurosawa films. As of right now I’d say I’ve seen over 50.

What happened in the past year? Not much.
Again only a few new lists, and the number of counted lists is now 174. Well, it seems we won’t reach the # 200 soon.
Death Rides a Horse has drifted out of the top 10 for the first time, while Run Man Run has it still managed to stay on # 20, and AFoD (the primal Spaggie) is still on #5, but the next 2 are pretty close.
Much to your delight.
The greatest film ever made.
Actually, yes.
But I’m surprised that it fell out though.
I still don’t understand why this comparatively ordinary film has such a following amongst the fans (but less in Germany anyway). Shouldn’t be in the top 30 imo, and is not in my top 50. Not a bad film though, but there are so many which are better directed and have more original stories to tell in a more original way.

The greatest film ever made.
He he, a bold statement.
I like that one, and I prefer it to Death Rides a Horse, but for me not the director’s best Spag.
As of right now I’d say I’ve seen over 50.
ok, 50 is a good enough number for that kind of list. I think if someone starts with the usual suspects, such a top 20 list won’t change that much with the next 100 films.
Btw I hadn’t counted your list so far, cause it seemed you had named films you hadn’t seen then, but I will take it with your next update.

I feel this way about Day of Anger. maybe i’ll eventually love it on my 5th viewing.
There are 3 links at the bottom of the Top 20 site.
One to Amazon, which is dead, one to Youtube, which is not actual, but also not wrong as the list hasn’t changed much in the last years, and one to iCheckmovies.
If someone wants to work on the links, feel free to do so, otherwise I erase at least the dead Amazon link.

Day of Anger is for me better than Death Rides a Horse, but also one I like less than others, the one of the next 10 which should be far lower ranked imo. The one between 20 and 30 of which I think similar is Mannaja.
Thanks for all your work on this as usual Stanton. Much appreciated.
I predict that by next year Run Man Run will fall out at last and be replaced by the Sartana flick poised to step up. Not only has Run Man Run diminished in popularity over the years but the release of Arrow’s Sartana box set will boost ratings for all those films for some time I suspect.
Once that happens I’ll have to deal with how it affects the Alternative Top 20. I had to do this before with Return of Ringo but that was a long time ago. Not quite sure how I’ll do it this time around with the larger number of Alt Top 20 lists I’ve used over the ensuing years. None of which will have included Run Man Run of course.
I still don’t understand why this comparatively ordinary film
Not in my Top 50 either. Rewatched it recently and it is actually pretty boring.
The greatest film ever made.
You love that one, don’t you. I agree, I’m getting closer and closer to the point I stop watching all other films and just focus on re-watching exclusively this one. Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

I still think it is a very solid entry, but there are lots of better movies. Tepepa is vastly superior and it definitely should be there instead of DRAH.

I want to project it onto my ceiling so I can commence watching it as soon as I wake up every morning.

I like Da Uomo a Uomo, but I wonder if it would rank as high if it wasn’t for Lee Van Cleef and Morricone.

Exactly ! … and lets not forget Woody Woodpecker aka John Philip Law, who makes Anthony Steffen look like Marlon Brando by comparison.
