This is so true ,Iāve found out ..on the back of the Blu-ray means nothing untill you pop it in with this lable and pidax Iāve noticed and inked ā¦. Donāt know why they canāt put down to buyer whatās actually on it ā¦frustrating indeed .I bet a lot of people donāt buy for these reasons and there language is on it still. I bought one with German and Italian and when I got it I was just gonna watch it in German and it had English on there ā¦lucky me right?
New review from @Perdono (German)
Watched the German Blu Ray which I had bought six months ago on release as original reports erroneously said it had English subtitles.
I think as others have report the picture quality is poor for a Blu Ray, picture slightly out of focus quite a bit. Wrong aspect ratio so characters are off screen in some shots and in others no-one on screen at all!
I watch it in Italian with German subs which appear to copy the Italian (my German is very poor but I have an O level in it). With that and the detailed review posted here I could follow the plot.
There seems to be some confusion as to names here. The outlaw gang leader played by Luis Indini is called āBetzā in the German subtitles and it sounds like that in Italian. Betz is also the name given on the Italian film industry site. The UK MFB review from February 1969 refers to him as āBatesā which might be the English name but I havenāt heard an English dub. George Martin is Bob Logan not Matt. At least in Italian language and German subtitles.
Weisser seems to get most of the character names and actors mixed up in his review, which is probably the source of confusion.
The main location looks like the Esplugas City town set. The Italian censor notes a workprint in black and white lacking a score and sound effects was submitted on 27 June 1964 - they didnāt look at it until the colour print was submitted at the end of September - which suggests it was filmed around April-May 1964 at the same time as Fisrful of Dollars.
Comparison of major production credits between Italian and Spanish prints:
⢠Spanish print has many more cast members credited
⢠Italian - St: Jesus Navarro; Sc: Jesus Navarro, Marcello Fondato, Primo Zeglio
Spanish Sc: Jesus Navarro, Federico Urrutia, Manuel Sebares
⢠DoP - Spanish has 2 -extra one is Francisco Canet
⢠director is āAnthony Greepyā (It.) Primo Zeglio (Sp). Italian sources confirm āGreepyā is alias for Zeglio.
